Hi KC
New Brighton, as a kid meant a trip on the ferry with Nan, and ice creams while sitting on some rocks. It later meant going to 'Chelsea Reach' which was some sort of nightclub, and having to drive back in a battered old mini. In my younger fitter days, I used to cycle from home to the Pier Head, get the ferry and then cycle to New Brighton, all with DS in a child seat on the back.:D
I have friends who live there, so do go quite often now.
Fish & chips on the prom anyone
I am ashamed to say I've never been to Norfolk, in fact the whole 'right hand side' of this country is basically a complete mystery to me. We spent our holidays as children in the Lakes, or North Wales.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

I'm ashamed to say I know only a bit of 'south' of the border, and none of the bottom bit at all! I know most of scotland, well a fair bit of it, but its so much smaller!
Fish and chipsyes please

Salt and vinegar for me please Gill, I am also ashamed to say that I know very little of the south east coast and the Norfolk coast. I did used to say I was going to buy a campervan and tour Britain in a year. I think we have some gorgeous places. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. That was one of my dreams from my teens. didn't happen but 50 years on, I'm pulling together lost years - or rather otherwise important years which have changed my ambitions!
See you on a coast of Britain :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -

Hey Tricia, good for you. Not likely to happen for me anytime soon. I am more likely to be tootling around Europe. If you hit the Mid Wales Coast give me a shout I am sure that I could meet up with you along that as I live there. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Ooo, New Brighton! Reminds me of a day trip to there with my Nan. We went on a bus then a ferry then another bus. All I can remember is eating plums from a brown paper bag on the bus then throwing up on the conductor when he was checking our ticket
I also seem to remember a fun fair. I am with you on the neon thoughCheery_Daff wrote: »I spent many a happy hour in New Brighton! As a small kid, as well as when we were teenagers - I remember being proud of the fact that an entire day had cost us £6 - and that was train fare, lunch in the cafe, ice cream, and a round of crazy golf :rotfl: MSE even as a teenager :rotfl: :rotfl:

Since I lived in whats called Upper Brighton on a map, it was never daytrip territory to me, just what was around - I worked at the cafe at the bowling alley, I climbed Vale Park gates at night, my brother hopped over the fence of the fun park and walked around the tracks, I flirted with the lads who worked at the funfairand of course all the pubs and clubs were happy to accept underage drinkers (Gill! You went to the Chelsea! Excellent ) It was a tricky area after 10pm :eek::eek:

Its my sister thats been choosing the location, and the only way I've learned about other parts of the UK is by visiting friends or like I did earlier this year just deciding to hop over to somewhere for a few days. Including the county I now live in:o:o We'll have to have a little mse tour of the UK, I think.
Anyway, today is a worky type day - already done my emails - got lots of admin to do - pay tax, do an online order from Wilkinsons (I'm buying my water butts :j), take a mega load to the charity shop, that sort of thing. I want to do as much as I can in one day so the rest of my holiday is a *jolliday*:D doing stuff I wouldn't normally do.
But first ... you know the drill .... another cup of tea :coffee:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

We may well next year. My DH went to uni in Swansea and I used to go with a walking group to the Brecon Beacons. Later, I took my kids to an adventure centre in North Wales. We haven't been into Wales for about 20 years now - unless you count the Marches and Shrewsbury.
KC : Very exciting about the water butts. :j:j. Have a good week. But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
Excellent memories about New Brighton I agree. Tricia, you must do Wales, it is beautiful. I am in Ceredigion but I travel the whole of Wales for my job and Swansea and the Brecon Beacons are just two of my stomping ground. Just spent last week working at the Royal Welsh.
Great news on the water butts KC. Not sure how I didnt realise that Wilkinsons do on line. I love Wilkinsons but none near to me.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons.
