The pension thing I have tried to turn into a positive in that it gives me extra years to work which hopefully makes me more employable?
Thats taking positivity beyond the heights to which I aspire :D:D:D

But the millionaire option is a nice thought :)
Yes it is :j and I'm hoping that inflation will take me there, if nothing else :p
Well done on your bargains - 50p for 1kg of spinach is great. Of course when you're a millionaire you will be able to buy all the spinach you want :D
And it will be organic, hand picked and grown bio-organically :j

Perish the thought. Perish the nits actually! (I bet you thought I was going to say "perish the pickers") :)

I'm not convinced they will get this pension change through, but I would suggest you all go and see your MPs and concentrate on what Ros Altman has said about the fairness and 'legality' of moving the date forward and the inability of people being able to plan adequately.

While you're at it have a look at your MPs pension!

Z, um, thanks for this! Omigod, we're all going to die, don't panic :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Yes indeedy. Or at least the Greeks are. Allegedly.

Ironically the Icelanders (remember them) have just floated some bonds, and got buyers too. Looks like neither the sellers nor the buyers are going to learn easily.

Bizarrely, reading the page that Z has linked to has cheered me up ... I usually sit in front of the tv in the morning to drink my coffee, then come on here - I couldn't face it this morning, because of all the news about pensions for women.

In 1998, when I bought my last house, I was due to retire at the age of 60, in 2014. Now, in 2011, I'm due to retire in 2020. I feel sick looking at that.

Now I have some caffeine inside me, my inclination is to say "f*** 'em" and make a million pounds and tell them to stuff their legislation ... but of course life doesn't work like that. I've certainly lost all respect for those in public life; mind you, that happened a long time ago - as Dan Gardner says, my attitude is not one of scepticism, but of cynicism, which isn't particularly healthy - but then, when its proved over and over again how people in legislative power will act, to me it seems the only logical attitude.

Pensions are just promises to pay at a time in the future - i.e. debt. We, as a country - possibly even as "The West" are bust. There's no savings - all your contributions went into the General Fund and kept sink estates in fags and beer. The country has two options at that point: Renege by not paying - or renege by paying with something worthless.

Probably there will be a bit of both, operating on the frog principle. Though monetary inflation is fighting with debt-destruction, and losing at the moment...

Oh it will. There's little doubt about that. Just not straight away.

Is it not bio-dynamic? There's a farm on the way to Wol's that advertises bio-dynamic meat. I did eventually look it up...

You know it's going to be desperate when MPs decide to reform their pension scheme. However "desperate" for them is not decided as to how bad the economy is, but as to how many of them are testing the tensile strength of lamposts by hanging from them with their necks...
