Mobile Broadband - switching to three using ipad data sim

Right, bear with me with this one (Happy new year all)
This is my current setup
BT Landline, ADSL24 as the ISP, with wireless network
This is costing me about £35-40 a month to use - I only need the BT landline for the broadband only which is a waste and needs cutting down (considering I use the phone for calls too, but I got a mobile for that
)
So, I got a mobile broadband stick for the days when I am out in the waggon at work - this is a Huawei E170 which I got as part of the package with a Huawei D100T WiFi Router as well (thanks to the deal posted sometime ago last year)
Now, what I am thinking about doing is closing the landline etc to save £25 a month by taking out a 1month contract on three mobile on the iPad data plan (£15 a month for 10GB).
Question is:
Has anyone manage to use a iPad data plan from three.co.uk in a normal mobile boardband dongle (using the adapaters to make it a normal sized sim or glue etc?) [in my case putting it in the E170]

Using 3G for a home network does not really work.
You should consider changing you phone line provider and BB provider.
Take a look at SamKnows to find out who is available in your area, preferably a LLU provider.
You could get phone line rental and BB from as little as £15.50 as month with O2 LLU if you have an O2 mobile or get a O2 PAYG SIM (free) and put £5.00 in it every three months still works out cheaper. Based on your figures you could potentially half your bill easily.0 -

Surely it must work well as three sells the mifi network like no tomorrow. I got just the same (but not 3 branded mifi stuff but its the same) There is only 1 netbook connecting to the wireless router nothing more
The local area is a waste of time, asdl2+ is pants (can only get 5mb), LLU nope.. nothing
I don't see how changing phone line and bb supplier is going to do any difference. Already on BT basic line rentral (+the calls) and adsl 24 on their £17 odd package. I looking to cut back completely and leave the telephone service altogether as its a waste of money (am downsizing as well in line with my new way of life) where I can get near enough the same service for half of the price and I can take it round with me when I consider to get out in the camper/tent etc.It's hard to find the balance when you are love.
