Euro - parents always say that, my mum's favourite was 'you don't need to get me anything for christmas/birthday'... don't feel guilty, it's just what parents do. (my friends mum didn't tell my friend she had cancer until he had already gone back to the falkland islands as she didn't want to cause a fuss!!!!) The fact is, you are making an effort to get the money together and get back for his birthday and I'm sure he will be pleased as punch you are there for it whether they might have to chip in or not.
I'm not very good with explaining myself sometimes but please don't feel bad Euro!!

Thank you. Am feeling better now.
I've spoken to OH now, and feel loads better already. He told me not to be so silly, and there are more important things to get upset about, we'll fix it etc etc.
Also spoke to parents again who told me not to be upset, they appreciate how expensive it is, and feel bad that they can't visit me more often (due to Mum's various health issues at the moment), so they are happy to chip in and help with the cost when they can.
So, have now decided to take an extra day from work, to spend with the family. Might as well, seeing as the cost is so high! Will be extra nice as I will also be there on my eldest neice's Birthday (12 on the 7th) AND my Dad's 70th!
I've told OH the secrets to making EasyJet work best for you, but he isn't interested. To be honest, it's more to do with his personality. He doesn't like crowds, or disorder (not that easyjet is disorderd, it's just that is how he would view it with the seating) etc, so with flights, they need to have plenty of leg room, give him free wine (pff, free! yeah right!) and allocated seating. I think flying with EasyJet would actually freak him out abit, just because the seating isn't allocated, to be honest. *shrugs* Funny though, that he always pays for his brother to travel with EasyJet! He does pay for speedy boarding for him though, to make it smoother.
Oh, I'm rambling. I'm sorry.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
Excellent... I like the fact that he refuses to fly with them, yet makes his brother fly with them!! Ah well, no pleasing some people.
Glad you are feeling a bit happier about it, your parents are probably of the older generation who don't like making a fuss... whereas I would be vocally upset about it(and it's been known for me to dump a boyfriend for not booking the evening off work for a birthday meal) Sounds like you will have a lovely time of it then, being home for both birthdays!

Well, I guess his view on that is that, as he's the one paying for it (but not flying), he'll choose the cheapest option. Should his brother ever get enough money together to pay for his own ticket, then he can be more picky about the airline! lol
Yeah, my parents aren't that bothered about Birthday's (for themselves that is), but I am, and I would be really upset if they couldn't make it to a big Birthday of mine (say 30th). I would understand, but I'd still be upset.
Just had to cancel some plans to visit friends later this year. I just can't afford it as I will also need to go back after brother's baby is born, again when sister's baby is born and we were invited yesterday to OH's Dad's 60th Birthday celebrations! It's a busy, busy, busy year!
KLM just called offering me 10,000 airmiles (don't get excited, I'm told this is only enough for one trip to the UK) if I get a KLM American Express Card. That's just what I need, another account to manage.....badly! lol. Not surprisingly, I turned them down.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
Very busy! But it will be nice to be home lots
Although MrS always comes back feeling homesick and is usually a bit down for a few days afterwards. Very exciting with the new babies and birthdays!

I usually have about 12-24 hours where I am on a high, and then I hit a slump because I do miss everyone terribly and have just been reminded about how great they all are and wish we all lived closer to one another. Treats from home usually get me through that, and it's getting easier with time.
Things are going well with MrS then my dear?:D (I need a smiley which raises it's eyebrows suggestively! lol)
