Hello everyone. I'm a longtime lurker on the site and this thread in particular but only an occasional poster. However, if you'll have me I think I need to join you guys.
The reason I've had enough is that I have just spent the last few weeks juggling my credit card balances around again - this must be at least the third time - to get as much as possible on to 0% rates for as long as possible. I had a 0% deal with Santander that was coming to an end so rang them to check what rate it would go on to and was told 18.9%. So on to this site to check on current deals and transferred that balance of approx £1400 to a Virgin card 0% until Nov '12. I had about £2500 on another card at 15.9% so that has now gone on the Santander card as they gave me another 0% deal but only until Feb '12. Finally I also have a balance of approx £2400 on a Barclaycard but at I think 6.9% for life of transfer having done that a while ago. Anyway I thought I was pretty savvy doing all this the first time, not too bad the second time but doing it agian for a third time makes me think I'm only juggling not solving the issue. It's not like I haven't been trying to clear the balances but there always seems to be something else in the way - you know the usual car problems, self employed OH not getting much work, detnal bills etc, etc. But this time enough is enough and I'm determined to make sone real headway with these in the next 12 months. OH thinks that we're doing OK as we're doing better than other people we know and I've always thought we're managing as we're not in arrears with anything, always made more than the minimum payments etc but actually it wouldn't take much to tip us into having problems - my job isn't as secure as it used to be, interest rates heading up sooner rather than later etc - so it's time to take some action now while I can. Limit to how much I can talk to OH about this as he feels I'm getting at him so I have found following this thread really friendly and inspiring as to how supportive everyone is.
I already do quite a lot of surveys and cashback daily clicking etc but any other ideas always read with interest.
Thanks for bearing with me as I rambled on a bit there. Not sure I'll be PADing every day but one thing I have noticed with this thread is the psychological value of feeling like you're making progress even if it just a little at a time so I'm starting with a small PAD of £3.10 please.:)
Welcome....the only rule on this thread is once you join you can't leave.....So welcome....And it's not going down (or getting into debt or whatever) that is the crime but staying down....Recovery is possible for ANYONE (and this is one of my wee mottos of recovery:). Nope I'm not a drug addict apart from caffeine and nicotine but I have health probs and am very much in recovery

No pad for me til Tuesday as I don't even have a penny to my name!
I've had a nightmare on ebay lately. When tired I posted 4 handbags (all different shapes and colours) in one posting and it cost me 40p and i"ll have to delete it and relist cos they'll cost me a fortune in fees by the time I've finished
Anyhow no official pad today...PAD though first thing tomorrow when I get paid...can't wait (gasps for breath)

PS. I am DV hoping to sell the ibook tonight so that'll be padded (you know one of my whoopsie spends in the spring)
I believe in the power of PAD
Come and join us on the Payment a Day thread
