Having worked in a bank branch before, it's horrendous how many people think that the cashier in front of them on low wages is responsible for changes. We're often affected by the same changes that the customers are and still have to take the abuse. I was yelled at and even threatened when I worked in my branch and am so glad I don't work in face to face customer service anymore.
Even though I'm peeved with some of the changes my bank has made recently, I do try not to take it out on the frontline staff.
Sorry to highlight you for this Paul, I know you're a lovely guy, but calling up just to have a go makes me feel sorry for the poor sod who got you on the phone
No. I didn't say to the person on the phone that they were sh*t. I said that Santander were. I didn't yell at or threaten anyone. It was said calmly in the midst of a conversation about several other issues. There's no way that the person on the other end of the conversation could have felt personally abused. I know this to be the case because the discussion was just fine. I'm well aware of the difference between personal abuse and discussing the poorer aspects of an organisation with an employee.
I do wish you had been a party to the conversation because I think you would agree that I expressed very poor views of the organisation without rubbishing the employee at all. Quite the opposite really. In fact, I thanked her for her help - and meant it.0 -

Paul - I have to agree with FF in that it's the frontline staff that get the abuse (I get enough of it1!, but at the same time I believe you when you say you weren't abusive to the member of staff... it is rubbish though and it's horrible working for a company when you don't always agree with changes they make.
I've just got in from my birthday night out, unforutnately my thai green curry has made my stomach burn so every drink made me feel sickapart from that it was fun!!

I'm sure you did Paul - I just know (and I'm sure Psycho does, knowing who she works for) how rubbish it is to have to spend all day hearing about how rubbish your employer is. Often when I was thinking it myself for assorted reasons
