Yeah, the letter was good apparently. It was my interview that let me down apparently...although my HOD reckons it had more to do with staffing and timetabling for next year than anything! :rotfl: To be honest, I probably didn't sell myself as much as I should because I was quite daunted by that job and being removed from the dept more etc.

This one is absolutely perfect and means I could play with spreadsheets and data for my dept whilst getting paid for it! BONZA! Properly up my street. :D
Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Oooh - sounds just like my cup of tea. I'd love to know what exactly you're applying for, by PM if you'd rather not put it on the forum, but no need to if you'd be more comfortable not.

I agree with Michelle that you should definitely complain. These things take a while to sink in and you aren't always ready to complain immediately.

Would you be offended by this: I can't decide if I am.

One of the women in my department asked one of the guys if they were going for promotion and he said "yes, I am going to apply for any job that comes up. I tried the PDL one but that was always going to you know who, and hopefully for this one HOD will base it on who deserves it the most”.

I also applied for the PDL one and just think the guy that got it probably just sold himself better - although I was miffed initially I can see their point that I didn't sell myself enough. However, I'm effectively doing the job now...or have at least started to do the job that this promotion is for (essentially I stated we have all this data and nothing to do with it - so I've started doing something with it), and I just find it slightly offensive that he said that whilst our HOD was in the room. To me it sounds like he was implying I don't deserve it!

Am I just being over sensitive?? Don't get me wrong I don't care, he wants the job I get that - it's not personal...but I still think. Whooa hold on a second.

That to me just sounds like a thoughtless comment rather than a dig at you, as in , last time i went for x job and didn't get it becasue of favouritism but this time the best person should get it.

They think they have a fairer chance at it if they deserve it.

That is how i'd take it anyhow.

I guess I took it more that way because of who said it. He's like that...quite snide and thinks nobody does as much work as he does and that he's the most deserving and hard working (he's not I might add). He's just had a baby (back in Jan) and you would think he's the first person to ever have one. He MOANS constantly....he only says the negative about how tired he is etc. I wouldn't mind but he still makes his partner do everything because he's working so it's not like he gets up in the night with him when we ask.

Anyway the plan for today - mark the last 2 questions (I hope), and make a start on my letter for the job. FINGERS CROSSED on that one. I HATE letter writing. Grr.
