Glad you posted this as now I'm going to have a look at doing OHs Valentine Gift frugally. Will get my thinking cap on. I know Valentine is a bit of a money making scam but we do buy gifts for each other and I always buy a bag of chocolate hearts and put them on the childrens bedside tables for morning. (They're now almost 17, almost 21 and 23 lol) I always have and even though I'm on this thread I still will but I will now be doing it in a thrifty way
Does that make me naughty though?

I only put just over half a tank of petrol in, as I was on the red light.! £30. (usually fill up and that was about £46). Ended up buying Robinson blackcurrent at £1.11 rather then be tempted to go instore, and pick up other things I will need soon. But can go a bit longer without. Just. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0

i Think today counts as a NSD - had to return a can of (emergency storecupboard) hotdogs to Mr M! they'd been put in the wrong bit so cost me 97p not the 37p i was expecting! the lady was a bit huffy, but i dont mind... i went back in and got the cheaper ones (on offer, not normaly that cheap), and treated us to 2 whoopsied chocolate doughnuts and a whoopsied fruit loaf both at 25p - so those 3 things were still cheaper than the original hotdogs!
oh, and found 3 5ps, a necklace, my uncle's last birthday card (which i had to re-buy but not the same design), and my P45 in a summer handbag & random bag of paperwork whilst i was looking for some beads i've bought and put somewhere safe!Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Hello all!
Only just caught back up with the thread.
I've been very good today, managed to help my friend count all her pennies out. As reward for carry a hefty part of it to her bank, she fed me chocolate and coffee. So safe to say the diet is off lol
As for feeding under1 's cow milk, i think it depends on you and your child. My boys used to drink it before 1 year old. But coddy (ds1) had it at six months old, as i had to stop breastfeeding him, due to the amount of steroids i was taking. He couldn't digest formula milk so had a mixture of cows milk and goats milk. Goat milk has more iron in than cows milk and is less heavy on the stomach. I did the same thing with snips (ds2) and both are happy healthy children.
One of the reasons i aim to have mine sowed is that the weather keeps changing. So iw have an early summer i can take advantage before the weather turns again in August.
OH sorted the oven out last night, he serviced it and now i should have a working oven!:D Now just a fridge. Seen a couple on ebay so going to keep an eye on them.
Also regrettably had to cancel coddy's violin lessons today, i can't afford them. But what really got me is that fact that i'm paying a years of lessons at one per week. But when i enquired about missing lessons apparently the music service only has to supply half of the lessons that i;m being charged for So going to look for another tutor for him.
Thanks for the info regarding phones going to have a look now!0 -

Today was my first non-NSD of the year (ok it's only the 5th day so not much of a big deal - and shops were mostly shut on 1st anyway) Even so, I managed to keep it low, £5 for 3 lbs lean beef mince at the local butcher, & £3.93 at Mr M. Oh, and 25p for coffee & 2 biscuits at church coffee morning. So still solvent this far into the year!0

I planned an NSD today but then I checked and found I hadn't ordered an FP part I'd lost so just over £9 spent including P+P...tomorrow should be LSD or NSD depending...need to do some posting at some point but already have enough stamps till next week I think - just one parcel to post at some point..
So been quite tired and just been vegging today and knitting and what not...
I need a cheap treat and today's NSD has been quite hard for me - often I have one big spend day then lots of LSD's but I need to get this OD cleared by the end of the month so needs must...
Had a kind of very dodgy tea of chocolate milk (just about out of yoghurt); seafood sticks (one packet) and a pancake. Found a recipe for pancakes in my magimix cookbook the other night and it's really good only I only do half quantities - nom nom nom - and I have loads of jams and things in :j...what late night snacking joy

I also fed one of my babys on cows milk at an early age but now I know better and realize it could have caused a lot of problems. Cows milk is for calves, breast or formula is for babies. Babys stomachs are not mature enough to take things at an early age so add all extra/ different foods slowly and carefully.Keep to £400 a month on C/C.

Don't forget all re any parcels dumped somewhere they could be stolen
Luckily I spoke to a lovely chap today, they can not resend till they have investigated apparently, sure I could argue it, but at least he has said they are going to sort it. Annoying as a birthday present that was ideal has now gone out of stockHe was laughing at the 'GATE' lady, he said he could see who it was on his screen-oops!

I found a handbag stuffed with things, I can't work out how it happens
NSD here today, had frugal food day, porridge, soup from freezer, spag bol from freezer with pasta for the children and I just had a sprinkling of cheese on mine as I feel sick today. We had 1 of the part baked baguettes that were 4 for £1 in co-op recently. I think i may have put a bit too much garlic on, I can't help myself
Oil for fryer anyone? I am thinking Veg, but does anyone prefer SF?
Really tired and do NOT want to iron, saves elec for today I guess!!!0 -
