    Evening all

Been to Mr S today, ahhhhh food prices just keep going up and up, along with blinkin petrol

It just seems to make me more determined to find cunning ways to cut my grocery bill and still produce healthy and tasty meals.
I'll let you know if i come up with anything genius!! ;)

Does anyone know how long pastry lasts out of the freezer before you have to use it? i took it out yesturday to use today but didnt get round to doing the chicken pie i had planned to make, would it still be ok to use tommorow or even tuesday?

Going to UK Aware again this year next Saturday. Have planned to go to a seminar called Beginners Guide to Greener Living, includes speakers Tracey Smith Author of Book of Rubbish Ideas and Dave Hampton The Carbon Coach. Then going to a workshop called Downshifting: What it is, what is isn't and how to do it(Tracey Smith doing it). Really looking forward to it. Will be bringing my own lunch and notebook and pen to make notes.

Going to the Ideal Home this Friday with my Mum. Both looking forward to a day out. Also bringing own lunch.

On Sunday, I am going to the Vitality Show with my friend. Will go somewhere cheap to some a bite to eat after the show.

Well, you should have plenty of ideas after that lot! :) It'll be interesting to see if the Ideal Home takes on board any of the green/downshifting ideas you'll be hearing at the seminar, or if it's more along the lines of 'buy, buy, buy.' Having said that, I'd go if I had the chance no matter what it was like as I've never been to the IH and am very curious about it...What is the Vitality Show, is it about nutrition?

If anyone could think of a way for me to downshift from this tiny house, I'd be impressed...the only way to go is a bedsitter or a dog kennel. :rotfl:

  • I have applied for 3 jobs this weekend. Keep your fingers crossed for me please everyone. I have been my son's carer for 3 years since his autologous stem cell transplant and now he is due to have a hip replacement on April 18th. due to my own problems (osteoarthritis), I am finding it difficult physically and my youngest son has come back to live to take over the caring until he recovers and I am hopefully going to work. I need a job where I can literally sit at a desk with a computer and phone and they are few and far between. However there were 3 this week that are all perfect. Just hoping my age (57) and my arthritis won't go against me. I know it shouldn't, but we can't kid ourselves that it won't.

PS - Both DD and DH seem to be OK - thanks for all your lovely wishes, and PMs.

That's great news Sandra. I remember you were very down about this, who wouldn't be, and hope DD and DH now go from strength to strength :)

Slowlyfading, pleased your bread turned out well. Anything homemade here like cakes, biscuits etc gets eaten before it's even cold...but that's the best thing about homemade isn't it? :)

I've got my cortisone injection tomorrow morning...only realised when I saw the appointment card in my purse. The homeopathic remedies did ease it a little but it looks like I'll be going in the morning :( I'm a baby, it's only going in my thumb but I had stitches once in my finger and it was blimming painful...

I have spent a lot these last two weeks but I feel I deserved it, and also treated daughter to some new clothes.
I must get a handle on my spending now though...otherwise I can see me treating myself a little too often!

Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend.

The seminar and workshop is actually at UK Aware - a green/eco friendly event. It is now in it 4th year. It has various companies that either sells eco-friendly products or that deals with green issues.

As my Mum is coming along with me to the Ideal Home, she will make sure I keep my spending down.:)

The Vitality Show deals with health, beauty, fitness and nutrition.

Thanks - it is! They smell so lovely that it's hard not to resist - there were 2 big slices left but OH has just had them with butter and jam on for supper, so it's all gone! Oh well, I'm just glad it worked :D

Hope the injection goes okay, I'm not good with things like that :o

As well as thinkiing I need a mortgage for food and petrol, I'm getting to the planning stage for all my planted pots. I usually go to local garden centres or B & Q, but think that might prove another mortgage requiring trip - does anyone have any other ideas please?

    xx
