Redglass-Having re read my message and I realise I didnt get across what I was trying to say there. (see it happens to all of us)

I will remove the phrase as I know everyone on here feels very sympathetic towards Erme just feels truly helpless in knowing how to help her.

Glenda, I've just read your post above and I'm not sure how to respond except to say you've been brave to raise the question. I imagine most people will be in the same situation and that there won't be any easy agreement. What is the rule about giving advice on medical matters? Everyone has said 'seek your doctor's help' so I can't imagine that would be thought irresponsible or dangerous...?

redglass and glendam you are both right, this is not the place but we have to deal with the situation thats arisen for whatever reason. We cant be aware of how things will be received and nobody wants to tiptoe around in fear of offending another person....I did that for too long with a moody and violent now ex-husband...another story....Anyway we can only deal with it by being supportive and offering the advise, go and see your GP, the rest is up to that person. Unfortunately its the nature of the illness to behave in this way and by ignoring them we only causes more pain and increases the mental illness. I think we are all doing well by managing as well as we can and those of us who can't can just refuse to get involved by keeping this very worthwhile thread going. Its not about us but about helping a fellow human being in distress.

I had a sleep and realised my post of earlier was inappropriate...fair doos...but I will not be held to ransom over least little purchase (think Ironing board/washing machine) neither will I be told that standing up for my beliefs and being offended that someone took my saviours name in vain is 'illness'....

I am not ill 24/7 and you can't say I'm getting sick for one post that was a bit OTT....that's just so nottrue...Like I said I've deleted it before everyone thinks I'm having a psychotic episode when I'm so not and want to apologise for any distress caused....

However the G word posts have shown you guys in your true colours and so I remain with this thread unbookmarked and whilst reporting no one for abuse I remain a lurker (and true lurker @ that - unlike some folk who bullied me last year who will remain nameless, yet I now see posting as virulently as ever).

If anyone wants to discuss this further please pm me......I won't be checking this thread for a while...

Welcome to the new, and returning peeps :)

Items for eBay ready for listing this evening.

Gutted to find outcasts has finished, and no plans for a second series :( and left on a cliffhanger.....

Seems the BBC is going down the route that the US have taken, ditch if not getting mega viewings..... even when the series is obviously written as one of several series.

Wonders if one should start watching new series. After all, who would read a book with the last few chapters removed?

    Sigh ....

At the risk of going a bit off-topic, naughty us, can I suggest beeb4's The Killing? The earliest episodes have now been removed from the website but there's enough there to catch up and there are 20 episodes in all (plus new ones on the way, I think). It's in Danish but so enthralling that after a few minutes you don't even notice the subtitles. I hardly ever watch TV but I will be bereft when this one finishes...OK end of trailer...

I'd wholeheartedly recommend the "Killing" too!

Been watching it live since episode 4, having caught up with it on iPlayer. The final two episodes next week....! Just how many twists can a plot have?!

Will be great if another series starts as well :)

23rdSpiral - Congrats on the house move.

Have spent a bit more on food this month, but it is less than last year. It is the rise in the cost of food. The marg I get went up at 28p in one week. I think I have enough for dinners for the next two weeks I hope. Will only need to get some things like bread, milk and potatoes next week.

Going to UK Aware again this year next Saturday. Have planned to go to a seminar called Beginners Guide to Greener Living, includes speakers Tracey Smith Author of Book of Rubbish Ideas and Dave Hampton The Carbon Coach. Then going to a workshop called Downshifting: What it is, what is isn't and how to do it(Tracey Smith doing it). Really looking forward to it. Will be bringing my own lunch and notebook and pen to make notes.

Going to the Ideal Home this Friday with my Mum. Both looking forward to a day out. Also bringing own lunch.

On Sunday, I am going to the Vitality Show with my friend. Will go somewhere cheap to some a bite to eat after the show.

Sending hugs to those in need of them.

Well done for realizing your reaction to the message was inappropriate and for having the guts to admit it, not sure it was necessary to delete it though but its up to you how you want to cope with things. Perhaps it might be wise to sleep on comments you don't like before you jump in. Sorry you wont be around so much but perhaps thats best for you as most of us seem to upset you unintentionally at one time or another. We all want to be supportive as you have been very open about your illness but as was said earlier some people cant do this and feel a failure because of that. Its hard to find the line between saying the wrong thing or saying nothing and as I said before its also hard wondering how you will react and that just shouldn't be so. That however is their problem but perhaps it might be best if you found a more appropriate thread for you to find the mental health support you deserve.
I'm sure I speak for others when I say I wish you well and hope all goes well for you health wise. XX E

Hallo Everyone. :hello: Thought I'd have a well earned break and browse the Good Ol' Frugal thread - only to find we have "Thanksgate"! When we had "Godgate" a couple of weeks ago, it was me who said that, for the sake of harmony, if I don't agree with someone's post, or think it contentious, then I don't press the thanks button. For the life of me, I can't see why someone would think any post on this thread warranted a report for abuse to MSE!

In just a couple of weeks, it will be the end of the first quarter, and I'm really pleased with the changes I've made to my budget. I'm sure that others have made far better economies than I have, but it isn't a competition, and I'm just really thrilled with my results.

In spite of having the most horrid Gas and Electricity Williams, and having to fork out for a new roof, and having 4 significant birthdays to buy for - I've still managed to s-t-r-e-t-c-h our pensions to cover most of this, with the balance coming from "rainy day" savings - or in my case a bleedin' monsoon!!

I never seem to find the large array of whoopsied items that some of you do - but I've found more this last 3 months than I ever did before - obviously I wasn't looking hard enough. :o I'm in awe of some of the wonderful creative things that some of you do, or make, and I'm so impressed with those of you who have managed to slash your overdrafts or loans.

A massive round of applause to you all. :)

    xx

PS - Both DD and DH seem to be OK - thanks for all your lovely wishes, and PMs.
