for not making that instantly clear on FB i got flamed big style. fair enough. but i then got flamed for calling the police, for interefereing and for being a responsable neighbour. i give up. i'm going to go away from the compuer and open some wine. luckily my real life neighbour is thankful i did call the police. have a good evening everyone.
I agree with FF I would want all my neighbours to be like you, too many people turn a blind eye and too many people read more into things than are actually there, enjoy the wine:D

    Ok people ...

Its (for most?) 6 days to payday. before we get our wage slips and bills blah blah blah (boo to bills!) - how much would you like to save in March?

Maybe I should start a thread for this ...

I am hoping to be superfrugalistic and save £875.

its a 5 week month so i am going to try and save half my monthly budget in march so allowed for £500 so going to try and save half the other half will be our spending money in april whilst away with the caravan,so at least i have a reason for not spending.

other than that thanks for the kind thoughts the other day only spent 1 night in hospital turns out its a cyst so observe and might need to be removed then so hugs and kindness back at you i believe in karma and virtual people both much to my husbands amusement :rotfl:
So finally debt free and it feels amazing however continuing here to stay debt free.Next declutter house and body and finally swim under that waterfall x

    Evening everyone

Hope you are all doing ok - sending hugs to anyone who'd like one. :grouphug:

Apple_mint, Good luck with dying your clothes. On the subject of dying, or not dying; I think it’s wonderful that you are embracing your silvers. I came across a group of ladies with beautiful silvers in their hair on the Long Hair Community website and I’ve been thinking of doing it ever since.

Thanks Lesley! I like the sound of the other soup recipe and might try it with a bag of frozen veg I’ve been putting off using. I’ve still got plenty of this one to keep me going for a while .. the joys of making full quantities of recipes for 4-6 people when there’s only me to eat it!

Erme, thanks for the hugs and for the suggestions. It kind of suits me to do it all at a slow pace anyway! And big hugs back to you lass, hope you are feeling better soon and manage to shake off that bug and build up your health. xxx

Mooloo, don’t beat yourself up for spending hon – I’m sure there aren’t many (or any?) here who are perfect 100% of the time. I like your idea of getting inspired by looking at frugal books. I’m sure you’ll be back on the wagon soon!

Sandra – love and hugs to you, hope things go well for your DH and DD in hospital.

23rdSpiral … you have NOTHINGto be sorry for. My heart breaks for what you’re going through – hope you will share your troubles as much as you like. Xxx P.S. How shocking about the uninsured drunk driver, it’s sickening how unrepentant he was! Thank goodness nobody was killed or hurt. Can’t believe you got grief on the internet for doing the right thing!

Ruby, I know that feeling – hope you can take it easy till you get some energy back!

I'm afraid I won't join in any savings challenge - my budget is so tightly accounted for and my goal is just to keep my spending within the limits I've set. To do any more would be miserable and/or impossible! I put away money every month towards bills and there's not much leftover after that and the regular spends like food. I have budgeted for a tiny rainy day savings amount every month but it's not much, better than nothing though. Good luck to anyone else doing it though, I will cheer you on from the sidelines!
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Bah to the flamers. I would want my neighbours to call the police if anything happened to Scraps like that. (Scraps is my 15 year old car)
Being set back as I am on a shared driveway, it would take something considerable to damage any of my property other than a lawn - but I agree with FF in that I'd certainly be thankful for a neighbour calling the police in those circumstances, and I'd be on the phone if I saw it happening (or recently happened) to anyone elses.

I'm in the same boat as you....

I am putting some money into 'savings' each month, but it's earmarked for annual bills due later in the year (July, August and December), replacement of essential appliances when needed, and my emergency contingency fund (for car/house repairs and emergency vet bills etc). Nothing else I can afford to 'save' at all :(

My plans for the weekend changed at short notice, and I ended up amusing my 'chap' by opening my mouth without thinking of what I was saying......

He was supposed to to be coming over around lunch time today until early afternoon tomorrow, but called this morning to say he didn't fancy driving in the snow they'd had overnight (and I was more than happy for him not to take the risk, as I won't drive in it for anything but an urgent/emergency trip).

We then spoke again in the middle of the afternoon, by which time he couldn't see much out of the window due to fog - but mentioned he had to go to the shop for bread and milk, and wasn't looking forward to an uphill stretch through the slush that was on the ground or crossing the main road in the fog. Without thinking I said "you'll be OK, you're a big boy after all", and it wasn't until he stopped laughing enough to ask "how do you know that?" that it dawned on me what I'd said blush.gif

He knew instantly how I'd meant it, but has such a wicked sense of humour at times that he also immediately 'read' it the other way :rotfl:

I've been doing a bit of dyeing myself today actually ~ shoes not clothes though :D They have turned out splendidly and am very pleased esp. as my lovely cobbler was going to charge me £7.50 + the cost of the dye (£3.25) From pale pink and a bit {ok quite a lot really :o} scuffed and shabby they are now red and quite smart.

Sad to hear of the troubles that folk are living with at the moment ~ please all take good care of yourselves

I own quite enough DVD's to have no need of the TV, even without him taking the mick out me ;)
(as in terrestrial/freeview channels that necessitate the purchase of a licence)

Sod the flamers. They are just jumping on a band wagon that one clever clogs started. You did the right and responsible thing and if there were more thoughtful, socially minded people like you out there then we would have fewer problems caused by people of any race, colour or creed. On a money saving note it will be cheaper for all of us too if we are more socially aware than litigious.

  • Spiral, that is so typical of people jumping to conclusions about things, and flaming you for saying he was an Eastern European, and also for you being a responsible neighbour.

One of my neighbours had her front wall demolished, by "joy riders" (why do they call them that? Where's the joy?) and it had cost a heluva lot originally. Even though it was covered by insurance, there was such a lot of phoning and writing and arranging and staying in for builders, and it made my neighbour quite ill.

That "bit of wall" represented lots of careful saving, and going without - something that some people seem to resent. Double, and triple hugs to you sweetie.

    xx
