I had the same poem...the 'cobwebs and dust one' on a little plaque, had a picture of a mummy rocking her baby. Was only the last verse, it was only a tiny plaque, and there's a few versions I think, here is another one of them...
Song for a Fifth Child
By Ruth Hulburt Hamilton
Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth
empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
hang out the washing and butter the bread,
sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I've grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
(lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
(pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew
and out in the yard there's a hullabaloo
but I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren't her eyes the most wonderful hue?
(lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
for children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.
*******************
Brings a tear to my eye that does...
Glad your feeling better LolaLemon.
Sandra my niece says exactly the same thing...'there are no pockets in shrouds' I must admit to saying this at supermarket checkouts when I've spent a bit too much, just trying to justify the spending to myself
Off to bed soon. Hope everyone has a warm snuggly night and a happy day tomorrow.
Luv Dizzy x

If you need to check stuff like this, look at the https://www.mysupermarket.co.uk website, it's ace for comparing offers0 -
Good morning everyone. Just whizzing through as I need to get ready for work. Just wanted to say 'congratulations' to Grandma247 :T and to say I loved SandraScarlett's poem
All the other baby poems are lovely too and bring a lump to my throat.
Did a Tesco shop last night. £28.93 but that included a kettle for £14.97. The last one, an all singing all dancing disco version (lit up with a blue light when on) only lasted 3 years and cost a fortune. Back to having a basic one which provides a fill line and switches itself off. I'm scraping the cost of this one back out of the food shopping budget.Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -
Morning folks
I had a pretty frugal day yesterday, spending less than £5 which was good. All of it was on essentials from the supermarket too. Although I'm still well within budget from the Spreadsheet of Wonder, I get paid on the 23rd of each month so have less than £20 left in my food account and I'm trying to make it stretch. This was because of the good offers in Tesco recently on petfood.
Last night I made another load of cards, pics are in the usual place, to complete some orders I've had for them. I have also withdrawn £10 from Paypal which is my payment for the first order. I'm sending that away tonight.
I plan to have a NSD today, so hopefully that will come to pass. I am due another bit of extra income today as I've been invited to a patients forum at the local Bupa hospital as I was there last year for an operation (insurance paid - phew!!) There is a buffet there and they will pay me £20 for my time too :j They have said it will be no more than two hours, so that's not a bad return for an evening when I would probably be sitting watching telly anyway
If I get a cheque for that I'm going to use it as a mortgage overpayment - I've overpaid £140 so far since the start of the year, which doesn't sound much but is more that half of my monthly payment. Once the car tax etc is out of the way I want to start doing this more often and all this frugalising helps!
Hope everyone has a lovely day today.

My mum says that too. It sounds not very MSE but in fact she's frugal. She only says it of people who sacrifice human relationships to wealth.she seems to think in the very near future as in next couple of weeks i will have a hsterectomy ,i went in with a urine infection or so i thought.
What a thing to be told when you aren't expecting it! I hope it all goes smoothly for you and you are able to get plenty of bed rest afterwards.flying_fresian wrote: »If you need to check stuff like this, look at the www.mysupermarket.co.uk website, it's ace for comparing offers
That looks really good, FF, do you happen to know if the prices are the same as instore?'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe

redglass its ok i'm usually doing the telling rather than being told ,problem being you cant see inside yourself lol.i'm ok about it just want to make sure oh has everything and knows where it all is .and if kids hve their favourite tinned frozen stuff in it will be easier as oh is not much of a cook although have to admit was a bit taken aback even for practical me .
away to make sure i'm covered for full value of house ,dont mind going under the knife as long as the kids have somewhere to sleep and their comfort foods hey you never know and because i'm a nurse there is bound to be some sort of complication in my case i will probably come round to find they found a baby in there lolSo finally debt free and it feels amazing however continuing here to stay debt free.Next declutter house and body and finally swim under that waterfall x0 -
((((Elly)))), hope you're ok and get through the op with as few complications as possible. I'm sure your OH and children will manage just fine while you are in hospital but I guess a store of things will set your mind at rest and the less you have to worry about the better.
Take care and good luck! x
Edit: well done on the weight loss! :TTrying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!
