  • Erne , I'm glad you're enjoying Little Women. My Mum was Mrs March in a school play about 90 years ago, and this was the first book she read to me. The next one in the series is Good Wives and then Jo's Boys, and lastly (I think) Little Men.

You've sent me zooming back about 60 years in time, and I'm glad you're enjoying the antics of Meg, Beth, Jo and Amy, and Laurie  ........... I had a crush on him!

    Happy Reading :)

yes big respect mooloo I am still trying to get straight 3 motnhs later!

I have temporarily increased my sim card flexi limit with 02 "simplicity" to 25 per month, that is spending 5 more but getting double the calls include.

I must also remember to call0800 and 0870s from the landline as this cost me a shocking amount in december.

However, I do need tocut this back but wanted to buy myself some time and niot get another horrendous bill.

Have rejigged the holiday and look at flying into another airport I can get the flights for less again, Im waiting for oh to get home then we will resolve it! ( and hopefully book it in the morning, I dont want anything else to go up )

feeling a lot better but have had th heating on all day ( whooops)

Food question please, when making a pie to freeze, do you freeze it with the pastry raw? It's going to be chicken so will need to be heated throughly when I defrost and cook it. Thanks Nat x

Say no to 0870 is fabulous but if you just have an 0800 number that you need to call from a mobile then use one of these two numbers:

02002220700 or 01207 450800 You just dial them and it prompts you to dial the 0800 number so it comes out of your inclusive minutes. HTH

Many thanks for all your wonderful and varied tips...I sit here with a piece of paper and jot down anything that catches my eye;)
We are planning to grow some of our own veg again this year but have decided to approach it slightly differently- we only have a small north facing garden so are limited by what we can grow. Last year OH got very stressed trying to grow everything from seed at what is a very busy time of year for him workwise. We checked the price in the local garden centre for the reasonable sized seedlings last year and have calculated that by factoring in the time saved aswell as the actual plants we have room for it doesn't work out any more expensive. Both of us like to have some homegrown veg but this is the easiest way for us to achieve our aim. Neither of us are what you might call natural gardeners [it's unfortunately a chore not a pleasure for me personally] but this seems for us a good frugal compromise.

    I'm making chutney this weekend:D

Not a frugal day for me at all today. I treated myself to Turkish breakfast in the cafe after my dance therapy as I was so hungry and was going out plus it was calling to me!
I bought myself some metal measuring spoons from a catering shop and had a lovely exchange with the owner.
I then went to Oxfam and bought myself a couple of garments four books at 99p each, Toast, Buy.ology, Beyond chocolate (although I never actually followed a diet as such in my life, I am trying to loose weight and it maybe helpful, and a book called Always Go to Bed on a Argument - And other useful advice from the non- domestic goddess, which I discovered afterwards is an uncorrected proof copy so that may drive me a bit crazy as I have a bit of a bee in my bonnet about typos in books and magazines.:rotfl:Also a battered metal tray that took my fancy and a serving spoon. Then on to M and S for a whole chicken in the ten pound meal deal but that's Sundays dinner sorted.
I have redeemed myself somewhat by a frugal 'home alone Friday dinner' of left over curry taken from the freezer.
Hope all you good folks are well and happy x
Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
    And we were young.
