  • Finished and submitted my Ou assignment (level 1 discovering psychology) so now I can concentrate on this challenge again.

I am horrified that my grocery shopping is averaging out at £90 a week:eek:, but there are 2 costco spends in there so it'll balance out (I hope).

In fact, while on the subject of costco, when I was working out my vat as they do it separatly on the receipt, I realised I was rounding up quite a lot, so I wonder how much VAT rounding up is going on elsewhere? (really have bee in bonnet about VAT).

Anyway, going to make a consequetive effort to eat our way through the freezer this week and make some room.

Total spends this year - 624.28shame.gif
    Payment a day challenge: £236.69
    Jan Shopping Challenge: £202.09/£250
    Frugal Living Challenge: £534.64/15000

err, i want to go shopping. it's a nice day, i could walk in the sun. but the only place i can think to go is the shops or spend petrol going elsewhere and probably end up at shops there! :naughty: we need no food, or anything else. problem is that for once i've not much to do (already done the needed housework, seen friends and had a visit from my parents, i can't believe it's only 1.40!!). i suppose i could do some more packing, but i'm just not in the mood :(

Is that so far over your target, WOMOT? I'm also quite a lot over, but a lot of my spends have been bargains which will pay off later (I hope) and some things just came as a lump at the start of the year, like a one-off gym fee. I believe Americans call this 'spaving' (spending in order to save) - does anyone here use that expression? I seem to do quite a lot of spaving. :o

BodyShop half-price body butters came through on Quidco. :j I love these as I get sore cracked hands and they make fabulous handcream.

How do you guys go on 1) cutting your HM bread Sal x

I use an electric carving knife. I can cut the slices much thinner and straighter even when the crust is hard and the middle soft, straight out of the breadmaker.
