Sainsburys are 99p or 2 for £1.50 if it helps. I refuse to now buy tenderstem or mini ones. They are not THAT nice
Thank you itsallinthemind, no Sainsburys unfortunately, only Tesco and Lidl but this may help someone else:D. Lidl was supposed have broccoli at 49p but none in sight. When they do get some in I'll be getting several and popping them in green veg bags.Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -

Are these any good? My mother passed me some randomly, how much longer does it last?
I keep seeing potatoes on whoopsie, wondering also how long you can keep them and onions in a cool dry place.

(cheaper than buying lunch, but way more expensive than i'd have paid if alone!) in groceries / others or presents?! ????????
I decided this year that any eating out i did alone e.g coffees getting a sandwich at lunch would come out of my grocery budget to encourage me to make and take food with me, hopefully cutting down the waste at home.

I haven't used the green bags for potatoes or onions. I do use them for leeks, parsnips, carrots, tomatoes, celery and any greens, salads etc. I shop once a week and found that carrots were going slimey within days. I now pop them into the green bags, pop them into the fridge and they last up to four weeks.
We are in a rented house and we have put our own fridge in the garage. I buy greens etc. when on offer and store them in the green bags in the 'garage freezer'. I also keep flour in this fridge in polybags. So if I see cabbages at 29p I'll get several. It worked well in December when we were snowed in. I had enough veggies for the 3 weeks in my fridges and freezer.
We did have a mishapI popped some carrots into their green bags and put them into a carrier to take to the freezer. I must have put the bag onto the floor whilst I put something in the freezer because I forgot about it. The carrier bag was sat beside the fridge for about 4 weeks. The carrots were still OK - they needed using but they hadn't gone off.
Veggies were in short supply in the supermarket this week so I wasn't able to stock up on offers. Hence the £1 for a broccoli head purchase :eek:Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -

Sorry, I knew they were more for the other types of veg, I was just rambling!
Some are slimy upon buying I find  Stilll, hopefully I will have carrots with dirt on sometime soon
4 weeks! That is good! I better start trying the ones my mother passed me then
Made a very frugal decision yesterday and passed the information on just now. I will not be accepting my ex back. Considering he refused to work, I have just saved myself an absolute fortune :rotfl:as the income is the sameObviously my decision was NOT based on my budget, but it helps
