There a a few states now that have gambling.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

    Hi all,

I'm looking at putting together a holiday for the tail end of March and am thinking I might take advantage of the cheaper LA flights and include a few nights LA into our trip.

Firstly, can anyone recommend any hotels for LA or direct me in the direction of a website/thread for LA related travel? I really have no idea about anything LA.

Also, has any drove LA to Vegas - any thoughts, comments about this?

    Cheers,

    Cheers,

Done it in June 09. Started about 5pm on Sunday evening, got to Vegas about 10pm but we stopped off a couple of times and generally took it easy as it was my first time driving in the states.

On the way back from LV to LA i done it in just under 4 hours. Once you get outta LA then its 1 long boring road thru the desert until you get about 60km from Vegas then you start to see the feint glow of the lights teasing you for the next hour until you get to the 8 lane car park known as Las Vegas Blvd.

    No casino at Vdara.

Also, !!!!!!.com made me laugh out loud. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

As most of the hotels are owned by same owner, or you can use player cards in different casinos and still earn points on same card, how does the Tropicana stand up in all this ?
I'm staying there in June, but am guessing the Trop is just the 1 hotel ? doesnt share a link like the MGM group of hotels, etc ?

You're right, Tropicana is on its own players club...so only your play at Tropicana would go toward comps at Tropicana...one of the reasons we prefer Harrah's as our play at any of their casinos counts for us. We don't restrict our play though - we play where we want...but we don't play for comps (no one should ever play for comps)...we're very happy with what we get for playing though.

in some cases, the freebie for signing up for one players club is better at some casinos in the group than others...so worth checking.

    http://www.advantageplayer.com/lasvegas/index.html

For example, if this is up-to-date - you get $10 free slot play if you sign up at Bellagio...so may be best to sign up for the MGM/!!!!!! card there.

You get $10 free play signing up at Rio, vs $5 signing up at the other Harrah's/Caesars properties.

It's not a lot, but if you're going to sign up anyway, and you're going to be at or near the casino anyway, makes sense to sign up where you'll get something for it.

And the $50 free play at Casino Royale/$100 at Hooters is on promotional machines...it's not cash to play anywhere you want or anything. :)

You will have to have ID, and many places require a passport and won't accept a photocard driving licence. Some have used colour photocopies of passports...we tried that once and got knocked back (Silverton) and haven't tried again.

I've posted elsewhere in one of the strings, my trip in March has come down quite a lot when I put my Total rewards through the reservation system.

2 nights in Harveys Stateline (Harrahs affiliate), 2 nights in Harrahs Reno and 2 nights in Harrahs Laughlin for a total of $62 inc tax. 5 1/2 nights comped. still sticking with South Point in Vegas $331 for 5 nights, will only know discount when I check out so a few dollars probably. my last 3 nights in LA at the Commerce will be booked through Expedia using up my Nectar points (£130) for £198. 2 nights in between LV and Laughlin at Buffalo Bills in Primm for $78 again comps/ discounts will be at the casino hosts desk prior to checking out.

You don't have to be a big gambler to earn decent discounts. Always worth taking out players cards wherever you go.

With flights at £377 with VA and car hire through Netflights (dodge Charger) £336 it will work out about £800 each for the 2 of us.

I already have a UK/EU/USA Satnav, if your going to go at least twice then it will pay for itself against what car hire co's charge to rent on with the car.
