It sounds scary and you go out to get chicken at night Aesop you mustn't.

I don't go out in the evenings SW, this is why. It was just that one day. I should have let DH do it, but didn't want him getting into a fight with anyone.

LOL, SW, if we move, it will be north. Maybe Yorkshire, problem is DH doesn't get as much money up north as down here, but it is a bit cheaper, so maybe he won't need it. it is something we discuss every few months.

and no, it's a joke address, from the Policeman joke. Where do you live, someone asked the policeman, 999 Letsbe Avenue.

the OP makes me laugh. There is a process for complaining, and she's not following it, I used to work for the company who administer Comet's extended warranties. I know how many people complained to the FOS and won!

The problem is she wants an answer NOW! and with the FOS you won't get one straight away. They take upto 8 weeks to investigate.

To be fair, if her laptop was written off, she should have been sent a BER letter, which is a letter which says your appliance is beyond economical repair, it has been written off, you can now go into a Comet store and choose the appliance upto the value of £xx.xx or the same/similiar make/model as before, but it will only be upto the value of the original product. If she wants to pay the difference, as the product she wants is more, she can.

To the would be burglars, and to the those that con old folk by doing work for them. My grandmother had this, took 900 off he for some dodgy window painting. Luckily half was by cheque and we got that stopped in time. Cheeky !!!!!!s came back but luckily one of her relatives was there and called the police who came and arrested them :j Now she never has more than 20quid in cash.
Another little tip is we put a pair of men's shoes in her outer porch so that it looks like a man lives there or is visiting not just a little old lady. Now she is quite frail and has alzheimers we have fancy alarms that ring our mobiles every time someone goes through her gate and we can listen to what is happening.

I always keep my doors locked and when I am home my dog barks very loudly (but like you 3dogs I'm not going to stop her) but my house is unoccupied for a long time in the day and I think its a bit vulnerable then.
Still as bad as it would be to be broken in to when you are not there definitely nowhere near as bad as when you are home.
