I recieved my new santander card today and I am a bit confused it says visa debit and the card numbers are embossed on it not like my last which was a visa electron which was black numbers on it.

Can someone clear this up for me is it a full card or a electron? I will post a picture when i've deleted the numbers etc

Its starts 4547

It's a Visa Debit card not electron.

No difference accept you can use at places that dont accept electron i guess.

Just confusing as the last one was a visa electron with the same starting 4547 as well!

    Be careful!

Some machines will still recognise it as an Electron. The last few updates have changed the card status to a Visa Debit.
  • if the AID is 31010 it is Visa Debit when spending in a shop

Looks like a Visa Debit MFC as opposed to the inferior Visa Debit Online Card

Have you recently started putting more money in the account?

When DH was single, he had an electron card from Abbey, and then when we got together I was added to his account and when my wages started going into the account we were upgraded to a normal Visa debit card without requesting it.

That was over 5 years ago; I don't know if Santander has kept the same policy.

When I worked for them, 4547 was the offline Visa Debit card. 4917 was the electron but I dont know what the online card BIN is... thats why I dread my A&L Visa Debit expiring as I'll probably get one of the unembossed ones which looks like an Electron *shudders* ok, my A&L one is little better than an Electron but at least its embossed!

  • Looks like a full debit card from the picture, if it says "for electronic use only" on the back thou its an electron in disguise
