    Hi

Pretty new to all this - please can I join in if its not too late?!

    I've managed 4/31 NSD's this month - a miracle (I dont think I've ever had a NSD EVER!!)

    Cheers!

:hello:2joanne and a very warm welcome to the NSD challenge. It's never too late to join us, newbies are always welcome here.

Well done for your 4 so far, lots more potential NSDs available in January, so go get 'em.

I'll add you to the front page tomorrow but, in the meantime, please consider yourself a fully fledged member of the gang and feel free to join in the general chat and nonsense here.

Today may end up being very expensive :(

I was parking in the pouring rain near my sons' school, the windows were quite steamed up, and to cut a long story short I managed to clip the front wheel arch of a van  I've been driving for 20 years and have never managed to damage my car or anyone else's, so I am really annoyed with myself.
It was difficult to see the damage as the vehicle was so wet, but there is minimal paint damage to mine and his- probably both will mostly polish out, but it is up to him really to decide :( . I was expecting him to have phoned when I got home but he hasn't yet.

After that I went shopping to try to replace a pair of earrings that DH bought me for Christmas- I managed to lose one :(. I really don't want to have to own up as I only had them for a week. Anyway, the jewellers was being refurbished . I am wondering how long it will be before either DH or DD comments on the fact that I'm not wearing my lovely earrings :o.

Anyway, nothing I can do about either situations, but suffice to say I am feeling very down in the dumps, even after a diet coke and belgian bun!!

    Hopefully a NSD tomorrow!

Just had a phonecall from the van driver, who said that although there is a minor scuff on his wheel arch it is nothing compared with the general wear and tear on his van and he won't lose any sleep over it- so I can relax!! :) In the meantime I did text my husband (so that I didn't have to tell him when he got home!!!) but am now thinking I needn't have bothered :rotfl:.

So, my day has got slightly better- thank goodness!

Sorry about the carp start to your day, Suzie, but great news about the turnaround later on. What a lovely van driver, that kind of thing restores your faith in human nature.:T

Hope you manage to get the earrings replaced.

    Hi everyone,

Just popping in quickly to report a NSD for yesterday. That takes me up to 5 NSDs

I had a rubbish week last week (nothing to do with S.Dad) just generally unorganised and a bit down, spent waaaay to much money waaaay too many times which didn't improve my mood one bit. Silly madam! I need a good kick up the bum! I am trying to count my blessings and pull my socks up.

I WILL be back tomorrow to report it as a NSD :)

Hugs to those who need/want them.

    honey x

Well you did ask, honey :D

Now I have found my bum kicking smiley, I have to use it:D

    Hope you're all OK?

    Feeling a bit glum... :(

As you can see from the sig, my main MoneySaving resolution was to stay out of my overdraft... at least until September, as then the money situation changes again! And I was doing so well, worked out the other day that if I was REALLY careful, I'd end January in the black (for the first time since I got an overdraft facility... And good going I thought as a) I normally get down to about -£300, and b) I had improved a lot in December but still was down to -£168).

BUT now I have to go into uni at peak time on 4 extra days that I hadn't planned for, it is all part of the expense of studying still but it's just annoying! Which means, even by raiding the car savings for one thing (sponsorship money I MIGHT get back, for a race I can't do anymore... cue further glumness :(), I will still end the month in the red. Not by much, and I know it really isn't much compared with what some on here are facing, but I was soooo proud of the prospect of meeting my target!

Added to the fact I really want to start saving, if nothing else to pay the wonderful bank of Mother back for the help she's given me this year after the bank refused my postgraduate loan at the last minute... I just feel a bit poo frankly!

Sorry, rant over (I know it isn't much to rant about really...)

    Cheeeeeer up!!! :j

Have a look at weekly tickets and savers, they do make a difference. put yourself a mental target now and aim this month not to go to the dreaded 3 digit overdraft and keep yourself under -£100. It will always be better than going back to your previous -£300. In fact, you should be jumping in happiness like the little smiley up there, since you have cut your expenses so much in the last 3 months and you have gone from -£300 to -£168 and now hopefuly less than -£100. It is £100 to £150 better each month!

Try to cut money somewhere else, or make money! Have you thought of selling on eBay some old clothes or those Xmas pressies you rather just sell than keep? Lol I have made this week £15 with clothes, not much, but better than nothing and at least my wardrobe it will be less cluttered.

I went back to Uni last year to do a Postgraduate and I could not have a grant or a loan, since my Degree was from 2004 and abroad, so no luck. I had to apply for a loan (that I am still paying) and then my wedding came and cc maxed out! Just focus in one thing at a time. Now the overdraft, slowly out of it. Once you get your account in black, some savings to pay your mum and have for emergencies.

Don't be dowwwwwn!! Everything is good! Your account is in a better shape than last month, so that is positive. You will end up the month with less overdraft used, which is also good. You might have not been accepted for a PG loan... but you were accepted for a PG study!!! The other way round would have been worse! So smile, at this rate of saving £150 per month, you will end up the year in the £1500, see? It is all good!!:T

    Yay, well said martafdz:T:T

Lotti, you're doing really well, can't expect to get rid of the overspending habit straight away, none of us have. Small steps is the way to take it and you've made some big improvements since December.

Huge pat on the back do you. Don't be glum, celebrate what you've achieved.:T

Btw, no nsd for me... grrr... I went to buy the envelopes for the eBay items and.. I saw some plastic shoe boxes at £1.99 for 3, and a book for work... and I just bought them! So I spent £4 over what I should have spent. But I managed to leave behind 2 recipe books that I had already piled up in my hands, a notebook and a filing case that I do not need. So not so much damage...

Well done for resisting the stuff you didn't need martafdz, that's the way to do it:T

    Good morning all!

I'm having a terrible time with insomnia ATM, I fall asleep really quickly, then about 5 hours later I'm wide awake:mad:
I think I'm worrying about the new things I have to do at work, once I settle into a routine I'll be fine.

Got another NSD yesterday - that's #11 for me!

    Have a great day everyone:)
