Thanks martafdz! I do tend to focus a *little* on the negatives, I guess it is actually a decent saving!

And yes, in this case a 7 day ticket would save £6.90, which would be excellent! I do normally have a monthly ticket, but didn't for December or January as was on hols for a bit of each month and currently doing exams so not in most days... I think reduced travel expenses really helped with the climb out of the overdraft pit! :D

But, back to the point of the thread, not a NSD today (paid the race money, which fingers crossed I'll get back, and bought some milk), but have my money sorted out for the trains this week so hopefully tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday! (may change if I decide to go swimming...:D)

Once again, I've been a little late to the party. I'm following how great you are all doing and I think you can safely count me in for February. I've no idea how many days to start with though.

Hi *KT* I spied you on the work lunches challenge too. Welcome along! This thread great for curbing your spending. And of course for the support and banter and virtual nights out!

There'll be one coming up soon for Burn's night. Come join us! :)

    Number 11 for me please.

Any business minds out there? Had a very confusing day today! We are trying to arrange a conference but keep hitting a brick wall in setting up a bank account.

We're mostly NHS employees but our target audience for the network and conference is much wider than this. We're not an official network afflitiated to a charity or anything.

The NHS would not support us as we are open to any-one. Same with our professional governing bodies. And we're not a charity (and don't think we'd meet the critera to register for one).

So essentially, it looks like we'd personally need to sign up as signatories on a business account. Which is not a risk I'm willing to take seen as I'm doing this in a professional capacity! And I also don't know or much fancy what the legal and financial implications might be if it went wrong!

It seems we might need to pull the conference :(. Which is such a shame as we've 4 big names in the subject who are willing talk (and most of them are also willing to waive their normal fees). And lots of people interested. :(

If any of you have any ideas, I'd be very grateful. Even directing me to the best place to ask this on the forum! It's so massive, and I like to stay safely in DFW ;).

My job (and indeed my signature) is not geared up to me thinking in a numerical or business way!!! :rotfl:

I'm not sure if you'll be non profit making or not but I think this is a good a place as any to start.

I was on the board of a very small charity before it became registered with the charities commission and we had a trustee account with the Nationwide at that point. It may be worth talking to them
  • Well chuffed with my #9 NSD. I thought I was feeling really hungry this afternoon but I had no money in my purse so couldn't buy the chocolate I thought I was craving. In hindsight I think I was more bored than hungry. So this challenge is proving healthy for my body as well as for my bank balance:j

I have tried to update my signature but someone needs to put a token in the meter as I keep getting the message that it's run out:rotfl:
  • Another "not a NSD" day today, they had the most massive calzone in the canteen today and I just couldn't resist!

(It's sort of mad how many times I post about food in here!)
    Thank you competition posters!

Sorry Not been on been a bit mental, I went to the minor injuries and had some strange dressings on lol! Seaweed to stop the bleeding, and then had to go back day after and have now got something that looks like skin but rubbery?? looks to be healing well! It is a tad sore though lol

ouch! hope it gets better soon - never heard of seaweed to stop the bleeding - sure you didn't go to the chinese takeway by accident? :rotfl:

Honey - is there anything that you bought that you could take back and get a refund perhaps?

Jane - if the kids spring a surprise just pretend you didn't hear ;)

lotti379 - some good advise i see has been given already, but (and I know it's hard) try not to beat yourself up too badly about not quite achieving your personal target this month, some things are out of your control and the best way to deal with them is to think positive and rea-djust your goals. good news the 7 day ticket will save you some £.

Well a (planned) spendy day for me today. Got the car valeted at work in the end (although the guy left before I could get the cash so I still owe him £10). Prob an extravagance I didn't have to spend but with all the salt on the roads etc I thought it would be wise to get the paintwork cleaned.

Also had to get a few bits in Mr W (deo, and a smaller shampoo for the next business trip - but all on a good offer) plus took the plant pots back that were too big.

Got my brows threaded again (though she's rather butchered them today and they are a bit thinner than I normally would prefer ) for £5, and got a couple of bits in Mr T - dark kit kats for a colleague when I go to the USA (business) she loves them and they don't have them over there, two onions (yep...pushing the boat out!) and some tea cakes (of the current variety, not the marshmallow kind). So all in all not tooooo bad. Few bits to get tomorrw (had hoped for a NSD tomorrow) as they didn't have everything i wanted in Mr W so hoping they've had a delivery by tomorrow lunchtime.

Also think I've found the source of my kitchen sink leak - think it is the washing machine inlet - I suspect it's a washer (if they have them? I have no idea!) but I'll have to wait a bit to check as I have a wash on atm and figure it might not be a good idea to unscrew the inlet mid cycle! :rotfl:
