mains gas cooker to LPG?

A friend of mine is moving to a house that does not have mains gas but it has LPG heating and an electric cooker which is not being left in the house.

She has just recently purchased a mains gas cooker and would like to use it in her new home.

She is moving from rented (council) to owning so the cooker is hers and she doesn't want to leave it in her old home.

Is it easy enough and cost effective to convert the cooker from mains gas to LPG or would she be just as well buying an electric cooker and try to sell the gas cooker?

She'd have to get the right conversion kit from the stove's manufacturer and not all models can be converted. She might well find she has to buy a new cooker, but it's worth contacting the maker of her gas cooker beforehand.

I would be very very surprised if she cannot convert it to LPG. Very very easily. Modern gas boilers do not even need to be converted IE all you need to do is to press a switch and in some case the boiler itself will recognize LPG and adjust itself. I sold a 25 year old baxi fire with back boiler to be converted to mains gas the conversion kit was dirt cheap and available despite the model not being made for years. Sold for £125 and the bloke traveled 100+miles to collect so he was certain of the latter.
By the way IT MAY be cheaper to actually stick gas bottles outside the house (if the cooker is on the outside wall). The cost of getting a engineer to run the gas pipes to the cooker through loads of kitchen units maybe considerably higher than putting the large gas bottles on the outside wall and running a short pipe to the cooker. They will try and get you to buy a 2 bottle set up where when 1 bottle is empty it automatically brings the other one on. But I don't think that is necessary. Although the cost of the gas will be considerably higher the bottle will last a hell of long time. A publican I know gets over 6 months out of 1 bottle despite doing meals that’s a hell of a long time. JB

you have to change the jets/nozzles on the cooker or the flame is to large did mine for a fiver for 4 brass nozzles and you have to have a copper pipe to the outside and where it goes through wall a plastic liner to stop cement eating into copper and then a regulator to fit the bottle
