Am I missing something or would the OP get WTC being 28 years old and working full time? I mean £775/month after TAX isn't much more than minimum wage full time so I am sure they would get some WTC even if it was only £10 or £20 a week.

That isnt even minimum wage, I get nmw @ £5.93 and work 35 hours a week min. In a 4 week month I get £733 ish, in a 5 week month I get £850-875 ish.
My partner takes home £820 ish working 37.5 hours a week.

You should be on 647L tax code.

  • do you have any other deductions like a pension?

  • Depends on where in the country you are and how many hours a week you're working. The pay-rates for Graphic Design graduates are low because the Unis are chucking out so many every year and there aren't enough appropriate jobs for all of them. That said, if you're not earning the equivalent of the National Minimum Wage your employers are breaking the law. I think you should do some extensive research on the pay-scales for similar jobs in your area in time for your review. God knows, you could be better off stacking shelves in Sainsbury's with none of the deadline-pressures.

Are you having any deductions made for your student loans?
  • you shouldn't be repaying any student loan payments on your wage, that being said i am sure it wouldnt be the first mistake the student loan co have ever made lol

They are getting just over minimum wage. They said that they get £775ish after TAX not before.
As I said they are just over minimum wage and should be getting around £10 or £20 in WTC a week due to a low wage and the fact they are over 25, being as they are 28.

BitterandTwisted, I think I need the deadline pressures to keep me sane! lol :)

According to my payslips, It works out at £6.25 an hour, so just over minimum wage. I'm on the right tax code, and the only things they say they deduct from my wage is Tax and NI. I don't make any student loan repayments, no pension, bike scheme, nothing.

Anyway, I've updated my CV, now working on my portfolio. Unfortunately, it's slim pickings in my line of work at the moment.
