Oh, first dispute ever

My ebay rating is 135, built up slowly over about 7 or 8 years.

I sold a tracksuit for my sister before Christmas. She posted it (I told her to do it recorded; just waiting to find out if she did - I suspect not, as we shall see...)

The guy paid £41.50 instantly. I gave him feedback. Forgot about it.

A dispute was opened yesterday. Badly spelled (well he is a personal trainer) and badly worded it claims his daughter got no Christmas present and he has sent me a message via ebay. I have received no such message. Am I jumping to conclusions that he must be lying?

Worse is that my sister is scatty, but hard up - I transferred £50 to her (and she'll have spent it on Christmas for her two kids) - so that'll be me £50 down... ugh.

It was sent to his gym, so it's possible someone else could have signed for it, right? I'm hoping that my sister has a tracking number (perhaps I should have waited until I know before posting this!!)

Firstly if the buyer did send an earlier message via the ebay system it will show in your ebay messages, have a quick look there just in case.

Secondly was the address (the Gym) the one that paypal stated was 'OK' to send to?

Thirdly , how long ago was it sent and was it posted within 7 days of payment being received?

Also, find out if it was sent recorded and get the recorded slip and check the number in track and trace to see what it says.

    First, definitely not.
Second, the paypal address was the one we used.
    Third, yes, 1 day!

I'm still waiting for my sister to call back! :)

  • im having the same problem (not with a tracksuit) buyer says they have not received the item because of the size it was sent via parcelforce and not recorded (cheers wife) so now ive had to refund the amount and try to claim through parcelforce.
Im hoping they can prove that it was collected we shall see.

If it wasn't posted recorded I will just refund. If it was, I have no idea of how I show that to paypal, but looks like I'm gonna learn!!

Hopefully you saw my earlier post and have removed the link, however for the benefit of others it shows £5.50 postage and that seems very steep for postage on a toddler tracksuit. I would suggest keeping it a bit more realistic in future as your stars will get hammered otherwise.

EDIT:If you can't prove delivery using tracking and you do decide to refund then just refund the original paypal payment and that leaves nothing left to be disputed.

I usually do to be honest. It just feels like I had been hammered for postage (and lost money on some items) - ebay is a hobby really, but I don't want a proper negative rating!
