Challenge Breakdown Service Renewal

Challenge your roadside breakdown cover. I saved £ 110 in a five minute phone call.:T

Just had a renewal in from the AA and for our Breakdown Cover for £ 250  Checked with RAC they offer exactly the same cover for £ 143. AA new members £171. Challenged AA on phone and without batting an eyelid offered renewal at £140. Saving £ 110. Me thinks they are really sticking it to existing members.

AA did the same to me.

Challenged them gave the same offer.

Green Flag did the same cover for £78 with £30 cash back.

    Whats included for £140?

I just got 2 cars covered for 12 months for roadside assistance, homestart and national recovery for under £90 (after TopCashBack) with RAC.

Hammyman - Good tip although we use Clubcard Points for Meals Out.

    Not heard of TopCashBack

I'm with The Rescue Service and the annual cost is only £75 and that includes, home start, local and national recovery, hire car and European cover with pre-departure cover too saving hundreds compared to The RAC or The AA.

Renewed mine changing from the RAC to the AA. With cashback it cost me £52 for road side and recovery for the missus and myself. A lot better than the RAC wanted, and yes the RAC were trying to shaft me as well. It seems to be a trend these days to get ripped off for customer loyalty.

Thats why I have no qualms paying in clubcard vouchers. Did initially but its worn off every time the renewal quote comes through.

We had a renewal from the AA for £143, got them down to £83 on the phone. I could have gone through quidco and gone with the RAC, but it wouldn't have been much cheaper and a bit more hassle to move.
We're not married and have a car and a van, so the cheaper versions of breakdown services don't come out very well for us.

This has always been the case. Every year I get a renewal notice from the AA which is approx double the price RAC are offering for new customers. Every year I phone up and politely point this out and they immediatly offer to match the RAC new customer offer. They rely on people just paying up without researching the alternatives.

What number did you phone, I keep getting a message that the operators are busy dealing with emergencies.
