Just looking for a little advice.
I bought and paid for a car engine on 4th Dec. Still hasn't arrived, seller says it's in transit but won't give us any details (Shipping company, shipping number or phone number). We've been given dates but nothing arrives. He said it should be with us today but nothing so far. He's stopped answering his phone or emails.
On the positive side he has 300 positive feedback and on the surface seems a reliable ebayer.
I realise we've had Christmas and snow etc but we desperately need this engine now. If it doesn't arrive today I will have to open a INR case.
What's the chances of getting my money back (rather have the engine but not looking promising), I paid with Paypal and bank account?
Many thanks

If the seller can't prove delivery you will be refunded. Open your case via Paypal (not ebay) as it's simpler don't let PP redirect you to ebay resolution.0

If you open a case and escalate it, the seller has to give online tracking showing delivery, with signature if over £150. If he cannot, you will be refunded. If you want the engine rather than a refund, you have 45 days from purchase to open a case, so you could hang on.0

Thanks, yes we really want the engine and I could hang on but I was hoping that if I opened a case it might prompt him to let us know what's going on!
It's nice to know I should get my cash back if it falls through though.0 -

I hope so... but with purchases like this, it's not uncommon for the seller to ask for a deposit via Paypal and the balance by cash (or bank transfer). If this is the case, it completely changes the refund situation... and not for the better!

Yes, good point. Guess we will have to wait for OP to clarify.0 -
It was all paid by Paypal, taken from my bank account in one lump sum.
One thing he did say was that he wouldn't post it for 1 week because I wanted it posted to the garage and not my home address. Can't see why myself? He would have been paid beforehand anyway.
Either way it's been a lot longer than a week0 -

There's always a first time - I think the fallout of this Christmas will be that people who found eBay too easy and got used to not needing to practise their customer service skills will find themselves having to look for a new job.
If it's any consolation, the window for disputes is still wide open so opening one now is your best course of action."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Hi, I'm reincarnating this thread as it's been a nightmare and we could do with a little help.
The engine took about 4 weeks to come, since then it's been in the garage with a reputable mechanic who now after 3 weeks has finally given up trying to get the engine to work - he's tried everything - brought in an "expert",and also linked it up to some fancy machine which finds faults - can't find any yet it still won't go!
I can't open a case with ebay as 45 days have gone - most of those we were waiting for the engine to arrive:(
Is there anything we can do at all?
Thanks0
