Bought car engine, nightmare -anyone know about cars?

Hi, I'm reincarnating this thread as it's been a nightmare and we could do with a little help.
The engine took about 4 weeks to come, since then it's been in the garage with a reputable mechanic who now after 3 weeks has finally given up trying to get the engine to work - he's tried everything - brought in an "expert",and also linked it up to some fancy machine which finds faults - can't find any yet it still won't go!
I can't open a case with ebay as 45 days have gone - most of those we were waiting for the engine to arrive:(
Is there anything we can do at all?
Thanks

sounds to me like the seller deliberelty delayed sending it so that you could do an item not as received through ebay/paypal
as soolin says now you will need to go to small claims with all your evidience0 -
If going the small claims route I assume it is also okay to ask for your out of pocket expenses like the garage costs.0

Youc an even claim back the costs of the court. However do take advice about it as even winning in small claims does not guarantee you your money back as you'd need to chase the seller for that seperately if he is un co operative.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
