Just entered my meter readings as I do at the end of every month. This time instead of just saying thank you for your readings, it gave me a revised note of my credit and asked if I wanted a bill created although this isn't the normal time for a quarterly bill.

Is this a new thing? Does it basically mean I can produce a bill each month if I wish?

  • if you think your readings are way out from the estimates, you can get a new bill...it only gives you the option once tho!

What sort of account do you have? With some you are only supposed to give 3 monthly readings per quarter, maybe you exceeded this and the result was an automatic generation of your bill.
  • eon let you enter readings daily!!

eon let you enter readings daily!!

I didn't know this. Thanks for the info. I posted yesterday asking for help to see if I was on track with my DD's with eon so far, as I'm dreading getting a letter in April saying that my monthly DD is increasing by any more than about £15...so if I can enter readings, say weekly, this will help me to see if I'm doing ok?

They may allow you to physically enter readings daily but they clearly state the following:
You can supply up to 3 readings per meter each quarter, but please don't enter more than 1 within the same 24hr hour period.

It's FixOnline 8 I have and this is only my 2nd meter reading since last bill. It normally allows me to put in meter readings as often as I want so it's not that.

It wasn't an automatic bill generation - it asked me if I wanted a bill.

As I said when I enter a meter reading it normally just says thanks - your meter reading will be added to your account. This time it also gave me a revised account balance as well as asking if I wanted to generate a new bill. I have never seen this before.
  • Jem16,

One of the EON reps posted about this a while ago, here is the thread:

The way it works is that you can put in your meter readings 3 times a quarter per meter and it will give you an uptodate balance immediately. You can also request a new bill to be created. So yes, you can create a bill every month.

EON will still request a meter reading when your "normal" quarterly bill is due and the dates on your quarterly bill won't be affected.

Thanks - that's what I was looking for.

I knew there had been a change since last month and did do a search but couldn't find anything.

Many thanks echoecho for posting the link to my earlier post about updates to our website. :T I hope it answers most of the queries here.

Just to clear up one issue. You can now enter meter readings online up to a maximum of six times each quarter, although only once per day.

This changed about a year ago. Previously to this, it was three times per quarter.

Hope this is useful. Let me know if anyone has any more queries about the recent changes. Will be happy to help. :)

Thanks for letting me know Malc.

You may want to let the website people know because when I click on the 'meter readings' sections is still says:

"You can supply up to 3 readings per meter each quarter, but please don't enter more than 1 within the same 24hr hour period."

Also, some other feedback: on the energy tracker, i clicked on 'summary' expecting to get info about my usage last year. I then got a message saying:

"We're sorry but we cannot show your past usage at the present time because you were not with E.ON 12 months ago."

I have been an eon customer for years. I then noticed that I was meant to click on "previous year" which gave me the info i was looking for. It may be better changing the message to say "if you are looking for info comparing 2009 and 2010 to click on "previous year". Might help someone else.

    Thanks Malc
