Local BT network upgrade?

I live quite a long way from my local exchange and so I get a fairly poor throughput (Plusnet promised 1.5Mb and actually deliver about 1.8Mb).
BT are installing a bunch of new roadside cabinets around the area which, after a bit of detective work, I've discovered are "needed to support the 30-40Mbps broadband service that will be available from BT and other providers that use the BT local lines".
Does anyone know if this will apply to my line?
Not really interested in 30-40Mb access but it'd be nice to benefit from it.

It has no effect on the current network then?0

No, it will run in tandem with the existing copper wire network. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Alanwsg - Have a look at this on the Plusnet website http://community.plus.net/21cn-exchange-availability/ as it gives an idea of when you will be able to benefit from the faster speeds. Wish my exchange was on it!!
Since Plusnet is owned by BT you should get it as quickly as other ISP on your exchange.
FTTC is Fibre To The Cabinet, it uses the existing copper wires from the cabinet to your house.0
