Can you help me remove antivirus 2010.
Its on my daughters acer notebook.
I tried safe mode networking
Bleeping computer site and ran the malware tool they suggested, but this virus shuts the scan down automatically and won't let you back in.
I tried another method of removing the host from the startup, but when i try and remove it, it shuts the computer down.
Any ideas?

Try Starting from this part

If you can install MoveOnBoot then you can go to programme files and remove the folder

You could look at a boot scan

which scan is it halting, Rkill or mbam ?? Still in safe mode with networking, download and save to desktop hitman pro. hold down CTRL key while you double-click to open it and let it run.

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Go into SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING
Run FixExe.reg (to allow malwarebytes etc to run). After clicking YES it will be fixed (Nothing will visually happen)
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/reg/antivirus-vista-2010/FixExe.reg
Then run malwarebytes again
Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM QUICK SCAN then click SCAN
Remove everything thats found (needs to be ticked)
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
If anything was found then do the exact same but run a FULL scan:idea:0 -

Did you hold the Ctrl down before you double clicked to run hitman ?
Did that. Started scan and after 3 seconds the whole screen went black.

Even after running fixreg?
I am trying again.
The program went into the registry.
The antivirus 2010 seems to have gone. But I want to run the malkware program to clean up the infection.
It installs and downloads the updates
I press quick scan and 12 seconds later the program vanishesNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Please run COMBOFIX
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
Shut down your anti virus
Follow the simple instructions it gives
Post the COMPLETE log it creates here (Split into sections if need be) ~ if there are loads of 'SNAPSHOT' pages then leave them out
If it comes up with a RENAMING error then RIGHT click the exe file and RENAME and call it QWERTY (Making the complete file name 'QWERTY.exe') Or SAVE as 'QWERTY' on download
(If no log comes up or you lose it, COMBOFIX.TXT can be found in C drive):idea:0
