Bought one, accidentally got one free

My daughter once bought a breadmaker online. She received two. She rang them to ask if they would collect the second one or send a pre-paid label for her to return it, and the shop told her to keep it. She gave it to me, we split the cost 50/50, result was we both got a new breadmaker for half price.
So we both benefited from her honesty.
You never know OP, you might honestlyend up with two TVs.0 -
The answer is quite simple take the faulty one back. The shop did the right thing and exchanged yours so surely you should do the right thing and take the other back to the store.
Its not a freebie its a mistake.Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait

Agree but...
If I leave a bag of goods at the till and expect a member of staff to contact me, I'd be waiting a very long time.
I think just as store members would not bother to call up the buyer of an item (they'd wait for the buyer to contact them-and then they make the effort to come back for the item) the store should collect the item themselves, it was their mistake and not the OPs mistake.0 -
The honest person in me would want to phone and give it back (they pick it up)..BUT the other part of me is evil and I would be sizing up the bedroom for it!!Lol Then theres the paranoid part of me that would think I was on CCTV so they would know I got 2!!!!lolYou may walk and you may run

I'd call them and let them know I'd got two, but that they need to arrange collection. They'd have issues collecting from me as would need to be evenings after 6pm or Sat morning - that's it. Assuming its a large retailer I can't see them bothering. At least then you're not wondering forever if they will come knocking...0

Legally, the TV is not yours and if you decide to keep it would be classed as theft.
I would phone them, explain the situation and, as most other have said, tell them that they must collect at a time that suits you.
The thing is, your don't know what might happen at their end - they might become full aware of what has happened and be able to trace it back to you.[STRIKE]DFW Nerd number 729[/STRIKE]Debt Free & Proud0 -
I have to say i'm intrigued as to how they "accidentally" put two in the car. Did the same person put both in?0
