Some good DVD's in this lot...for those that aren't sure I have seen a few of them.
Hotel Rwanda is a very good film and is a good choice for anyone wanting an english speaking movie and the most mainstream of the selection. Nominated for several academy awards, Don Cheadle puts in an excellent performance as ever.
Amelie is also very good, quirky and delightful. Strange but enchanting, it follows a girls search for love and the odd places that love can pop up when you don't realise it.
Amores Perros is very hard hitting in places. I thought it was an excellent film and if I didn't already own it, that would be my choice. I thought of it as a similar style of film to Pulp Fiction. Contains short suggestive scenes of dogfighting.
I thought that the brazilian film, City Of God might be in this selection, but Tsotsi is the closest to get to it. The main character is growing up in violent south africa and the film is a few days in his life. Poignant and moving in places with a good ending.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, fantasy martial arts film, but you really don't have to be into Martial Arts to enjoy it. Beautiful in setting and containing an excellent little sub-story which could have been made into a movie itself, again a good choice.
If thats helped anyone decide, then it was worth it :rotfl:0 -
