Like many of you, I have been battling for months trying to either pay or query my barclaycard account with frustrating off shore call centres. At last I have a telephone number for an English call center that does not get routed off shore.
Barclaycard should follow BT's recent decision to bring the off shore call centers back to the uk and start providing good levels of customer service again. For those that would like to benefit from the UK number - 0844 5560104
Everytime I call Barclaycard, I get routed through to Northampton? I dial 01604 234234 or the 0844 I get routed through to Northampton, Manchester or something even Newcastle!0 -
I think we all know what the OP meant, and to pull up the american way of spelling is pedantic to say the least, a lot of the times in these call centres it is very difficult and making yourself understood speaking to folk who's native language is not English, I would prefer to speak to a uk call centre or even a american call centre than indian one forexample
My biggest gripe around foreign call centres is the satellite delay and hissy background noise. Maybe a slight irritation around talking to Geoff or Brian when it's highly likely their names are anything but.
I've invariably found Asian call centre staff's English to be better than that used by many British call centre staff. Where I've had a straight forward question I've received a straight forward answer. Where I've had a more complex problem it has always been resolved. When I've needed to speak to a supervisor I've always been able to.
It's not about where the call centre is. It's about how it's structured and how well trained the staff are. British based call centres are not automatically better than overseas call centres.0 -
Yip everyone can do typos and I now see several I have made on my original post (bad me, I was in a hurry and didn’t proof read, posted and left) as for my grasp of written English, so what, I don’t profess to be great at written English, but I can usually get across what I mean whether the grammar etc. Is correct or not. I was only pointing out I thought it was quite trivial what folk were posting about American words on the op’s original post
On the call centres, I have had good and poor service from Asian and UK call centres, but like a lot of folk I have found it difficult at times speaking to Asian call centres trying to understand and be understood, in fact on several occasions I have become so frustrated with the lack of understanding on both parties that I have apologised and asked if they had a native English speaker available (maybe it’s a local accent thing or maybe I’mjust a thick **** from Glasgow, or maybe both J)I’ve never had to do this with UK call centres even with strong regional accents, hence the reason I and many others prefer UK call centres to Asian ones.
PS apologies, if my grammar, written English etc. Is not to your standard, but hey that’s life J0
