havent been on daily mail but went sun last year.
was 15quid each but min of 4 so had to pay for 4year old and 1 under 1 .
went 4nites st ives john fowler chalet.
Had to pay service charges for bedding and club passes on top.
which brought cost up to 110 kept saying it be ok as base.
The camp now here near beach no sea veiw.
the pool was grim and cold dident use.
sad pathetic grubby little playarea.
Clubhouse wasent our thing stayed for few drinks on arrival expecting it to be social club prices was really pricey.
the small shop on site was pricey but had no competion as this place very remote.
they had amusement arcade where most of kids hung out.
mini golf was small peice of bumpy long grass lawn.
Chalet was filthy very basic we complained they said well we fullbooked cant move you its stay and we send cleaners or we go 3hours back home with tired dissapointed kids so stayed.
Cleaners turned up and made us feel awful for complaining like we being snobs but baby was crawling round in filth. singleglazing so quite cold
very dated and basic kitchen dident even have bottle opener to drown our sorrows.
most tiny tv with just 4channels.
uncomfortable waiting room sofa.
dirty frayed carpet.
beds uncomfy and most hidous bedding ever seen
My mam went isle of wight carvan and had ok time.
Think some places hit and miss think st ives was our 5th choice on form.
Its just all the extras add up .
Plus we struggled to fit everything in car as it was without taking bedding.
we took highchair as they wnated to charge us 10quid and baby co-slept with us that week.
Hope everyone gets the park they want and its good.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

I paid 42 quid and the power will put the cost up to 65-70 quid, hardly daylight robbery. Depends what you want from your accomodation really. I just want somewhere to sleep at night and somewhere to cook an evening meal.
Thing is we do want the passes as my daughter is really looking forward to the activities. I'll ring them and take the linen off and see what they say about the passes.0 -
We were near St Ives at Haven, we used Lidls for food although we did treat ourselves to a meal from the Marks and Spencers food hall, both near.Too many children, too little time!!!0

Ours was john fowler but quite afew miles from st ives.
nearest place to shop apart from site as carbis bay which had a tesco and small costcutter.
the beach on carbis bay was lovley.
but couldent of walked it or see it as was miles away.
found st ives a killer with kids and a buggy as that hill up to carpark.
we went july as eldest was at preschool then before school hols thinking be quieter but was very busy.
We were lucky as had car quite afew onsite had no transport and site had limited bus service.
I think maybe we were just unlucky.
year before we did b and b in perranporth cornwall.
but with 2kids asked for haven perran sands perronporth meant to be really nice but dident get it.
The people in chalet next to us left early as they had tent so went back to camp at perran sands as said even a tent was better than john fowler and the facilities on haven much better.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

We just got our confirmation through and they've added another £77.80 of charges. When the holiday was only £70 this seems excessive!
£14 is linens so I'll just take my own. £27.80 is power charge - fair enough, haven website does state this will be payable if you go through a newspaper offer so I don't dispute that one. £36.00 is for four entertainment passes - well, we are only two people plus one baby so at *most* I'll agree to pay for two passes but actually I'm not even sure we want those - what do the passes cover does anyone know and can you opt out of them? Since we will be taking our (as yet unborn but by then 5mth old) with us I hardly think we'll be joining in the discos etc lol!
Any thoughts appreciated, I'm gonna phone them tomorrow and hopefully get it cut down to just hte power charge which will be ok.

On my Haven confirmation it stated that passes for under 5's are free so you should just need to pay for two. The passes allow you entry to the pool, entertainment bars, etc. So if you want to go swimming or have a drink in the evening you'll need them.0 -
Yes if you ring up they will remove:
(1) Linen Charges (take your own duvet covers/sheets/pillowcases)
(2) The 4 entertainment passes (they always add 4 regardless of number in party!)
The place we go will not even let you in the main buildings without an entertainment pass but we go for the seaside and so don't need them.
The power charge is all you need to pay and they usually ask you to pay on the day you ring up to remove the other items so have your card ready.:)0 -
Thanks both.
We might pay for two passes as we would like to take baby swimming etc.
I also saw something about an insurance/damage deposit which is cheaper if you pay before you go? There is no mention of this on our confirmation letter. Anyone know about this, should I ask or just pay it when we get there if its mentioned?
Thanks,

I have booked a 4 night break in the Easter hols but now cant go and payment of the extra charges is due. I know I wont get my original payment refunded, not sure though whether just to ring them and cancel or whether to pay the extra charges and try and 'sell on' the holiday? Anyone had similar? Please God, help me stop spending!0

Hi i booked a weekend break at Haven in dorset through the daily mail deal and breakfree holidays and paid £105 pounds,
Then recieved a letter from Haven asking for another £89 and am furious and feel i have been mislead by Breakfree and the Daily mail
How can they call this a deal, it would have been cheaper to book with Haven directly as thats what i planned to do before someone told me about this deal and the cost off the holiday would have been £159 including passes, linen and power.
At present cant afford to pay this and am at risk of losing my deposit.:(
Can cancel the linen and entertainment but whats the point of going to a great holiday park with 2 young children and not being able to use ther fascilities and as for power wont be much of a holiday without that.
I spoke to someone at breakfree and they that i should have read the TCs which stated other charges may apply.
What they should have i included was YOU ARE ONLY PAYING FOR HALF A HOLIDAY AND NEED TO BUY THE REST LATER:mad::mad:
Never again0
