  • I think you allowed you father to become a 2nd cardholder beacuse he could not get a card of his own. (as a primary card holder).

    He received the bill and paid if off.

    All this worked well till he passed away and somehow you forgot about the card that he was using (technically) under your name.

    You are responsible for the debt. Sad but true, there is unfortunately no way to get out of this.

    My OH is a 2nd card holder on some of my credit card accounts. If he racked up a load of debt and then run off (or died), it would be tough luck for me. Allowing someone to be a 2nd card holder on your card, means you take responsibility for their debt. It does not matter who spent the money and on which card. The credit card debt is yours.
