Barclays bank account - Fraud

Hello, today I recieved a paying in book from Barclays, I was quite shocked seen as I bank with Natwest and have never anything to do with Barclays. I rang the police straight away, they said it sounds like I have been a victim of id fraud, I said what do I do about it, she said basically the police cant do anything unless the company concerned submits a complaint. She said id fraud is a crime against a company not a person.

I dont understand this because this could be adversly affecting me with serious consequences! Im worried if this person who has done this has taken out loan, credit cards and god only knows what else.

I rang barclays and spoke to some foreign call center who said that they dont send credit books out, only cheque books and what i was saying couldnt possibly happen? Well it has and she said theres nothing she can do from this end then cut me off :@

What do I do? Im really worried

Thanks

Go into a Barclays branch and sort it out. Call centers staff are a waste of time.

You called the police before you called Barclays?

OP, has it got your name on the paying-in slips?

Or has the postman just put it through the wrong letter-box?

Yes but as the police will say there is no crime been committed against you. The crime would be against the bank any money was taken from. Took me a while to get my head round it when my card was cloned and the online retailer asked me to go to the police. The police correctly stated that the crime was against Lloydstsb as they were the ones who would have to pay back the company. Bank supported this.

1 sort out a credit report
2 maybe try the bank and let them know(if your isnt on the item in question then is ther emuch point in this)

my first thought would be to check my credit report and contact the bank, i wouldnt call the police unless the bank thoguht it was neccessary

anyway this is the wrong section for this

    Silly question time!!

Have you checked the numbers on the Barclays slips? Do the numbers match your Natwest Account? Is it possible that the printers of the paying in book had the wrong stationary loaded?

(Most banks use the same printers for their paying in books & cheque books).
  • Have checked my credit report and theres nothing unusual there, no linked addresses, no searches, no accounts from my bank and credit cards and o2, etc.

It doesnt match my natwest account number or sort code. Its my name and address

Have been to barclays and spoken to some very unhelpful person stating that the address on my passport and driving license and my natwest bank statements does not match the address on the account. He said its likely that the person who opened the account - has changed the address and that I should contact the police. I explained the situation with the police how its not a crime against me but a crime against the company, he said the police wouldnt say that and I was to obtain a crime reference number. However, I went to the police again and they said no I need to get the bank to report it! Argh!

Thanks for your replies! I'm totally clueless what to do now.
