O2 insurance

Hope someone can advise me on this!

I have just found out that I have insurance with O2 on a contract I began in 2004. I am certain I did not agree to this as I generally regard these insurance policies as useless but none the less there it is.

I have contacted them requesting a refund but they have basically said no but offered me £10. The amount of this is insurance is over £300.

I dont actually have this phone anymore and havent had it for about 4 years. Its only since the new bolt on manager I saw on their website that I saw this £5.99 a month charge for insurance.

Any suggestions on what I can do.

  • To be honest I think you're going to struggle with this, when you took out your contract you would have received paperwork both from O2 and the insurance company stating what exactly you've been paying and what you're getting for your money, during which time you should have received your first bill stating exactly what you're paying for.

Unless you've been paying the insurance annually which you'd most likely notice (as you'd have one bill substantially higher than the rest every year) you've had 6 years to notice the insurance which has always been visible on your bill, if you've not taken the time to look to see what you're paying for then how were O2 supposed to know you didn't want it.

Your only hope is if you've called up to cancel the insurance in the past and it's not been actioned, but it doesn't sound like this is the case judging from your post.
