Bankers Draft in Canadian Dollars

Firstly, apologies if this is in the wrong forum - I couldn't see anything more appropriate.
I'm currently applying for a Canadian visa; I've been asked to pay using a banker's draft in Canadian dollars, drawn on a Canadian bank. I've asked in a couple of banks, and getting a draft in dollars is no problem, but getting one drawn on a Canadian bank is - banks here will only provide one drawn on themselves.
I'm trying to find out if there's another way I can pay, but can someone offer some advice on how I might be able to get hold of this if I can't? The only suggestion I've had so far involves opening an account in a Canadian bank and using that to fund the draft, which does seem a little cumbersome....

Can they not accept an overseas electronic transfer? This is a much quicker way!0

Agreed, I have made a number of payments to Canadian payees using a Swift transfer to their account.
If you live in the UK and need a Canadian visa (most European citizens dont need one) it would appear you can remit the amount in $CAN from your UK sterling account to:
Bank: Barclays Bank
Account Name: Canadian HC CIC Revenue
Sort Code: 206759
Acct No: 44175200
Account Type: $CAD

Are you sure it about the wording? It is usually payable in canadian currency, not from a canadian bank. Natwest does an international account, you can get a cheque from there written in canadian dollars.Loving the sunny days!0

I'm with those who think that the requirement for the funds to come via a Canadian account can't be right - if you need a Canadian visa, chances are you will not have a Canadian bank account or access to one.
You're sure you're dealing with the official Canadian government and not some dodgy 3rd party?Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
I bought an item at a Canadian auction (via a prebid) and paid with a bankers draft from the UK in Canadian dollars. I bank with Barclays. Went through ok.0

Thanks for the replies.
I'm hoping to emigrate rather than going as a tourist, so there's a few extra hoops to apply through; I'm applying through an immigration specialist, so the list of things I need came through them, rather than direct. Their checklist does definitely state that I need to send along a draft drawn on a Canadian bank, though having queried it with them directly, I'm not sure that that's entirely accurate.
I'll get one from my UK bank and keep my fingers crossed, I think....0 -
Whenever I have dealt with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (wife and children are Canadian) I have always paid by credit card. Have a look at the website: https://services3.cic.gc.ca/epay/welcome.do

Thank you - I don't think that'll work because the forms are being processed in London and there's a note on the FAQ there saying that that's just for forms being processed in Canada.0 -
