If the charities only charge a pound for a wristband, and you buy it from them for a pound - the charity have got exactly what they asked for. If someone is prepared to pay more to buy it from you on ebay then what is the problem. What IS wrong is all the fake wristbands on ebay that have not been bought from charities, but that lead people to believe that they have been bought from a charity.

Just to say I totally agree with wirm about these. They are allowed on eBay and there is certainly enough of them on there! If people want to buy these, what is wrong with that?

It isn't fair to profit on something like this! but some people go to a charity shop buy something and sell it on for more! - same sorta thing! - is that wrong too?

It not the same. If you buy a jumper, which some granny has brought into a charity shop, and sell it on ebay you not trading on the name of a charity to profit as these sellers are doing (Livestrong,Tsunami, Bullying, etc). Now we've got some idiots making their own bands and lining their pockets http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=97030&item=7141557136&rd=1

Why is that not a surprise, seeing as you've sold them!

Because people are making a profit from the charity name!! Ebay need to put a VeRO notice on all these sales, that'll teach the scoundrels, who've bought 1000's to sell, a lesson.

The problem is that these bands are becomming popular and fashonable and so people want them.

Bu the problem lies in supply and demand. There's a low supply, but high demand so people are willing to pay eBay prices for them, and as long as people do, sellers will keep listing them and other 'fake' ones.

The only way around it that I can see is to get the manufacturers to produce more wristbands that people who want them can get for the normal price and not eBay prices
    Titch :)

OK this dude selling them is funny. He says "Be unique, never mind the other bands (very few of which result in money going to the charities)." I wonder how much money he will be donating from his bands?? and what a rubbish auction design lol shame it is a good idea too.

At the end of the day, the people that sell these bands pay the charities the money that they are asking for to buy them in the first place. So what you go and do with them afterwards is entirely up to you, surley?

Don't know much about most of them, but I can't understand why people were paying silly money for the livestrong ones when you can get them direct from the LAF for $1 apiece - that way it's authentic, you (or you kid) have the fashionable item and the money goes to the good cause the thing was produced to help in the first place.
