wescot Credit Services.. I can not tell you how much I just LUUURRRVVVEEEEEE these guys at the moment. They are bullies and practice their buisness using as much intimidation as they can. They also have no issue with doing things that are completely illegal which is why our case has been taken up by Trading Standards and it looks like they will be taking Wescot to court and they wont be able to get any money out of us because of the way they have behaved so they have really shot themselves in the foot ... all i can say is HAHAHAHA!!!
:EasterBun ...what more do I need to say?!

Allways bear in mind that THEY cannot take more from you than you have. Some of the agencies will try to bully you, threaten them with the ombudsman for breaching the FSA codes of conduct, i.e. you should be treated in a fair and sympathetic manner. Also find as much information as you can about debt, get info packs from CCCS and National Debtline for free.
Dont let the B******s grind you down, you have laws on your side too.

okay well they have 28 days from the date you sent your letter to them demanding they provide you with a copy of the signed consumer credit agreement. I have been told by trading standards that they actually have a le-way of 2 months. if you haven't heard anything by then they are actually commiting a criminal offence and you can contact trading standards. ( infact would recomend that you contact them anyway as it helps if you can quote what section of the of the consumers act it is as i cant remember them. just tell them that you are in dispute with the debt and are trying to get hard evidence. If after the two month period you can then write to them and give the 7 days exactly to either act on the debt they are pursuing ie. take you to court and if they havent got a signed copy of the cionsumer credit agreement they havent got much of a leg to stand on, or they have to stop pursuing the debt. Also trading standards would need to know at that point as they will have committed a criminal offense by not supplying the hard evidence requested. The only thing u might need to check is if they have signed documentation form when you have recieved goods in the post from them that might be enough.. check with trading standards.

i can't remember whether i signed an agreement our not.
but as for signing for goods i had a fridge freezer so i must have signed for that, that was five years ago.
guess i might just have to forget this one and try and do a f&f later next year, but fed up of paying the interest they charge me £35 a month and i pay them £50. have been for 4 years.
What annoy's me is they shoot up the interest when you get into difficulties, as you have not got enough problems they make it worse.

    thanks donnalove

I really need some advice. My Other Half has a credit card debit from when he was 18, (he is only 22 now!) and he is yet to pay any which is concerning me. Anyway if I found the contactndetails for the company could I ring and talk to them about arranging the repayments? Also if I spoke to them about how much they would accept as a settlement would we still be able to pay in installments? Also as we haven't heard from them in over a year I am not even sure if my OH still has there details in order to contact them. I am really concerned about this and my OH just seems to want to bury his head in the sand and ignore it.
  • Hi guys,
Just spent a while reading all of the replies about Jasons first comment.
I am currently buggered with my money. I have a C/C of around 5500 with HSBC and my overdraft with HSBC isn't looking too pretty either, at 3600! I also have a joint account with the other half for 1300, again with HSBC. I am interested in the "phoning them up" and getting a final settlement figure. At what stage does your problem have to be, ie do you have to have missed payments etc. I am just about to miss my first payment by the looks of things. If we did come to a settlement figure how would that effect things in the future, remortgage etc?
    Cheers
  • Hi everybody, my first time posting on this forum. I have four debts, one of which is sadly with Wescot (they aren't nice people at all!! ) All debts are now really quite old at about 5 years old but during this time I have been extremely stubborn with telling them to freeze all interest and also telling them I cannot afford to give them more than £20-25 per month. Whilst this made it more manaegable for me and I felt kinda smug that they would have to seriously wait for their money as all debts were around the £2k mark and would take ages to pay off (they are now around £1500), it did mean that I was prolonging the injury in that these debts would remain on my credit file for longer. In early 2008 we are looking to move house again when DH has finished his current contract, so having these debts on file for so long won't look good when applying for a mortgage. I feel it's time to concentrate efforts and get rid of these debts. All original creditors have got bored with me and now sold the debts on, probably for pennies in the pound. My question is that I have an Abbey overdraft of £2900 which hardly gets used and when it does it gets paid off.

Would it be better to approach these debt companies with a full and final offer and stick it on the overdraft or leave them as they are? I have worked out at the current payments I will be debt free in 2009 but if I pay them off one at a time on my overdraft, yes I will get charged a minimal amount of interest for using my overdraft but is that better than having these debts hang around on my file any longer?
