    Aw montrose, Sky won't let you do that!! You would have to pay at least £10 per month just to be allowed to use your recorder! If you want to go Freesat, the consensus seems to be that the Humax Foxsat HDR is the best to buy (I have one and recommend it). HD, 320gb Hard Drive, iPlayer and it will just plug in directly where your Sky box was. Even comes with an HDMI cable!
