I have remove Norton through a google search. have done combofix safemode but half way through it says:
'combofix has detected the presence of rootkit activity and needs to reboot' ??????????????0 -
that means you're infected with a rootkit - v.nasty
however, combofix can usually remove them, it just needs to reboot to catch the little begger before it applies itself....stick with it

let it rebootEx forum ambassador

ok. thanks peeps. do i just let it keep rebooting and running combofix when it starts up till it fixes itself.0
-
if combofix initiates the reboot, it normally restarts itself on the reboot....if it doesn't restart it manually and let it do the full cycle...
OR... Still in safe mode with networking, download and save to desktop hitman pro. hold down CTRL key while you double-click to open it and let it run. This kills running processes that are not required for windows to run, so should stop the infection being active before it starts scanning. It's also a pretty quick scan (5-6 mins).
