You wil already have Collision Damage Waiver, etc and won't have to fork out for anything else.
Taken from the Monarch website "NOTE: Car hire (with third party insurance only) is included in this package. One economy 2 door car is provided for every 4 passengers & upgrades can be purchased. If required, you MUST select your chosen car during the booking process. It is vital you also ADD further insurance cover and we recommend an upgrade to our Gold or fully inclusive insurance. Car hire is with Alamo.
This is nearly always the case when a package includes a "free" car, Monarch do a "gold insurance" package for £210, this will be cheaper than buying it at the rental desk and in my opinion should be considered.0 -
I have upgraded the car and added the neccasary insurances-total cost on top was £150 which is not too bad a price. We have a timeshare in florida and travel often but we usually use a company called car on the drive so i am a bit out of touch with airport rental. Only taking the car to keep costs down as we are there in march as well. Thanks for the advice.pompeyrich wrote: »Taken from the Monarch website "NOTE: Car hire (with third party insurance only) is included in this package. Ok that seems a very good price then, £210 was for 2 weeks. Didn't realise you were a regular traveller. A lot of 1st timers get caught with the, "free car including insurance" sales pitch, which is true but only basic cover, they then get hit for CDW, UMP, TP etc. then all the taxes and a tank of fuel, which can add $4-500 on top for a 2 week rental. Have a great time.0 -

Thankyou we have been caught a couple of times with various charges to our cc once we got home in the past. Its ages since we actually took a car from the airport as we either get picked up or use the magical express. I have reaad an awful lot recently about unscrupulous car hire companies praying on first time visitors. Do you know what they will charge us for a tank of fuel? Its through alamo and i cant stand being ripped off when fuel is so cheap.0 -
if you do a dummy booking at Alamo.com, select the type of car and your dates then continue, it will show you all the possible extras, you have already paid most of these. You can usually ask to return full, in which case you wont pay Alamo for the petrol but fill up near the airport on return. They are quoting $3/gallon at the moment, obviously likely to be more come June and estimate a tank at $40.
Worhth a play on their site just to see some of the rediculous fees there are if you don't pre book insurance, tyre fee 2 cents a day!! Airport access fee at 10% of rental cost, they make Ryanair look amateurish!!
Customer Facility Charge 2.50/day $25.00
Airport Access Fee 10 % $79.71
Florida Surcharge 2.00/day $74.00
Tire/battery Fee .02/day $0.74
Vehicle License Fee .60/day $22.20
Sales Tax (6.50%)0 -

Thanks-goodness those fees are hilarious. Off for a look.0 -
at roughly 300 per person including flights and accommodation (forgetting the car as its not really free) I'll be honest and say whilst its not a mega bargain, its not expensive either and certainly not a "RIP OFF". Flights alone cost far more than that for June.:A:A:A:A:A:A0

I've also booked this, thou for two weeks, I dare say a few people on the manchester flight, will be turning up at the ramada.
I don't know what to do about the car? I currently got it booked with the free ins and free car, but don't know what to do? Do I need the crash waiver?
I can get a car from somewhere else for£220 fully insured, do I really need it?
Also at the time of booking transfers could be arranged for £80, I also considering phoning monarch to see if I can add this( found out the hotel is only 1 mile from WDW)0
