Help - Is T Mobile any good?

Hi there

I am looking to upgrade my mobile and also get a dongle and want to do it all for around £30.00. I have rang every phone company and the best deal I can find is with T Mobile. I have been with O2 for 10 years but they are not willing to budge and match so I am planning to leave them.

I am very nervous, are T mobile any good? What's there customer service like? Are they competitive?

Also the phone is HTC Wildfire - is this any good?

They might be great if they spent more on their network than on advertising

T-Mobile network is good, if there's bad T-Mobile reception it uses the Orange network as they merged

Customer service has been fine so far, although only needed to change my sort code and give them my PAC code, but they were all English and I got through to someone straight away each time

The HTC Wildfire is a good phone for how much it costs, the screen resolution is low though (320x240) but that shouldn't make too much of a difference unless you're watching videos or want a lot of stuff on the screen. It runs Android with HTC Sense, and when you get used to it you'll love it.

  • I've been far happier with T-Mobile than I was with my previous provider (o2)
I was happy with o2 for everything but their data provision - hence the move. T-Mobile's 3G network is far better in general. As I also have an Android phone the fair use at 3GB is a lot better than the other networks offer and there appears to be nothing blocked. Signal is fine for me (West London and the Midlands) I have signed up for the Orange roaming and very occasionally find my phone roaming.

The "My T-Mobile" section of the website shows usage up to date (within a couple of hours at least)
  • I went through exactly the same as yourself:- been with O2 ( and its for runners ) for 18 years, had no problems with them untill last renewal when there was no offers etc & I was going to end up a lot worse of than I was (around £200 per phone per year) so moved to T mobile on their £7.50 per month offer . As said they now have a sharing agreement with Orange & even my old Nokia 6210 switchs between the 2 networks with no problems .
I had major hassle getting the initial contract set up with T mobile but they could not have been more helpfull, the problem was my local council messing up my whole address so nobody could find me living here ! T mobile CS & Credit Verification section were very helpfull & advised me exactly what to ask my council to do so that it didn't cost me anything ( & the council tried !)
A lot will depend on were you normally use your phone geographically as to wether they have good coverage for you .
  • I am so happy with T-mobile.Its network is so fast. good trying!!!

I recently joined t-mobile now there customer service experience is quite interesting.

When I ordered a wildfire phone it came, however the charger supplied with it was broken, I rang tmobile who said they would send out a new one, I waited 2 weeks and got nothing, so I rang back only for them to tell me it was out of stock and they werent sure when it would be back, so they said I was free to go out buy my own charger from either one of their stores or any other retailer, and they would refund me for the cost to my account, I claimed back £15 from them and didn't even need to send a receipt.

I've also found that when you use their email customer services form, they do actually call you back, infact they keep trying you for a few days until you do answer your phone.

Just to add the only thing which annoyed me with tmobile really was that when I took out my plan they didnt tell me that I would be charged for accessing my answer phone, which costs 10p a call, not a big deal just wish they would make this information clear before you sign on the dotted line.

I was told this by there CS at the time of taking the contract & immediately asked for the answer service to be switched of at source which the lady happily did for me. The only niggle I have is the amount of service texts I recieve from them

From when I got my T-Mobile HTC Desire in July until about October, I was very disappointed with T-Mobile's data network. The amount of times I got "Data connection lost, retrying" and "this application requires a data connection" was staggering.

However, in the last few months, it has gotten a lot better, and I get those errors a lot less often now.

My friend got the Wildfire on T-Mobile, and decided he didn't like it, and he complained that T-Mobile wouldn't let him return the phone. I have no idea if he was entitled to return it or not, though. Probably not.

I love my Desire, and having seen both the Wildfire and the Desire, pay more and get the Desire! It's much faster and the screen is bigger!

For the first few months I wished I'd stayed with O2. Now though, I'd say that they're probably about the same.

Can't fault T-Mobile's call quality - it's crystal clear... when there is reception. But I find there wasn't much reception in my Central London office block, despite being on the 8th floor.
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

Good point. Boy do they send you a lot of junk.
I was so annoyed at it that I wrote a long blog post about it: T-mobile - stop texting me
I warn you - the language in the blog post isn't particularly nice in parts! And they still haven't stopped spamming me - despite all the requests to stop!
