Have done some mince, tomato puree, garlic, carrots peas and onions and as my old dear only had bisto beef granules added that rather than stock cube.
Just tasted the meat part whilst the potatoes are boiling and had let it simmer for some time but their is no meat taste if you know what I mean. Anything I can easily add? They are back from the hospital at 4 and with my nephew in hospital dont have alot in.

I have never added garlic to cottage pie, but maybe add some more gravy to the mix.
