    Debt-free and Proud!
    OK these are mine -
    • Declutter one room at a time and sell everything possible on ebay and give the rest to charity.
    • Menu plan everyweek using up what we already have in the freezer and cupboards before buying new things.
    • Have at least 2 NSD's per week.
    • Make one new recipe per month (would prefer per week but money may not make this possible).
    • Stick to a food budget.
    • Drink less booze, drink less diet coke and drink more water.
    • Look after myself - I spend my days looking after my hubster, looking after our home, our finances, now its time to look after me a little more.
    Good Luck everyone!

  • I know this is just a wee thing, but it might help others too so thought I'd share it. I'm resolving to make sure I only buy things I absolutely need this year rather than things I see and want. To help me, I've unsubscribed from all of the clothes emails (asos, new look, h&m etc) that I get so that I'm not tempted by anything that I see and then justify buying because oooh, its on offer. It also means I won't see things and feel the need to go to the shop to have a closer look at it because this just makes me buy more once I'm there.

Mine are exactly the same! Except no husband to look after but 3 kids and yes its time for some 'me' time

I would also add the buying less magazines as I'm a sucker for these. However in the last few months i have really cut back and have only bought maximum of 3 in a month...still over £100 a year though. I used to buy Heat every week but stopped about 7 months or s o ago and honestly don't miss it...got sick of Jordans mug all the time:rotfl: I know you can look at mags online but i like reading them curled up on the sofa!! My mum passes alot on though which is good.

I also want to try and spend quality time with each child especially my middle one as i feel she sometimes feels left out. My youngest goes to nursery 2.5 days but the other 2.5 days its just me and him one on one and my DD1 is 14 so we spend time together when little un's in bed. DD2 doesn't really have much just us time.

    Go to Disneyland Paris!

Sort my finances out once and for all!

Sort arrangements out with ex and get over him!!!:rotfl:

    Happy 2011 everyone!

As a student I already have to watch my spends, despite having a part time job! In 2011 i am going to:

cut right back on my car use, if i can walk my journey i will. not only will i get fit and save on petrol but my car is getting far too old and will start to need alot of maintenance.

stop eating out, including buying lunch for work or uni. i will make a packed lunch and only eat out during special occasions or with very good deal vouchers!

Stop spending so much on clothes and beauty products. i have stocked up on beauty over xmas to see me through, with regards to clothes i will try to buy only essentials. Shoes are banned in 2011, i work in a shoe shop this will be hard!

Things i will continue to do:

make use of my NUS card, when needed

keep batch making food and buying from reduced sections

shop in tesco, the points get me free food or days out!!

swap outfits with housemates on nights out, its amazing how your mates dress can look so different on you, no one ever notices!
Paying it all off in 2017:
    Finance 1- [STRIKE]115[/STRIKE] Paid Jan 2017
    Finance 2- 335
    CC - [STRIKE]2000[/STRIKE]1800
    OD 1 - [STRIKE]2200[/STRIKE] 1850
    OD 2 - 2500
  • I have picked up some great tips from reading through these resolutions - and have already ordered my first radox book - Thanks!

I've decided to give up my daily fix of chocolate as I'm gaining weight and losing money. Expect profit warnings from whichever companies manufacture Aero and Galaxy ;) Going to redirect the savings to pay for a class, probably something crafty, and will be able to back get into clothes which are currently one size too small, thus saving money replacing them. What's not to love?!:rotfl:

  • Decided to see how far we can pull the reins in a bit to see how much it is possible to save.
    So far
    1. Bought second hand car part to fix lock on car.
    2. Decided to do some fairly easy electrics in house to save trade bill (unless it does prove beyond us!).
    3. Brew our own beer and wine-We and friends have been saving bottles, so it's just getting a kit and the basics and away we go.
    4. Using the breadmaker more.
5, Definately growing lettuce, rocket and herbs as it costs a fortune in the shops.
    6. not getting swayed to buy expensive cleaning stuff- use more tips on here like vinegar to clean and use as clothes conditioner.

Any other ideas to save money?:D:D All gratefully received!
