    You answer your question......

The trackrods if not adjusted evenly can result in the wheels pointing the left or right when the steering rack is centred.

Thing is, I can't answer my question as it is physically impossible. "Centre" has no meaning to the steering rack. The steering wheel can be centred, but that doesn't have to be the straight ahead position (although it should). You can make two adjustments with the track rod ends - the amount of toe in and the position of the steering wheel relative to the position of the rack. The rack itself has no central point.

I repeat my first comment. If your car was pulling in either direction, there is something else wrong. Unless you mean you pointed the steering wheel "straight" and expected the car to go straight forward. If it hasn't been adjusted to do that, it won't, but that doesn't mean that the car is pulling to one side.

Diagnosing why i car pulls either way can be as simple as an incorrect trackrod adjustment or it could be a worn ball joint on the inner tie rod (connects the trackrod to the steering rack)

Or it could be an underinflated tyre, worn tyre tread, incorrect camber setting, bent shock absorber etc

There are so many variables to be fair.

How many miles has the car done? My motor is on 149k and i need to change my inner tie rod and track rod arms as i can feel slight play plus the car wanders ever so slightly. They are not expensive to buy at all, it's the labour that rises the cost.

My inner tie rod & track rod end with a new gaiter is £38 each side. I'll fit them myelf and then get the tracking aligned at a cost of roughly £20-40

I had a customer once who complained of his car sometimes pulling to the right then to the left! Every time I tested it I could not feel it. So one day he drove to show me!!! after several wheel spinning take off's I explained to him the principle of torque steer!:D

with the driving standards of motorist's on the road today, that doesn't suprise me one bit

If you feel ok to do this, give it a whirl,

Jack up car, place on axel stands

Next to the wishbone you'll see a rod that look similar to this (piece hanging down)
    images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTA9w5RqA2hHAUEByLfGYNwQzd_WdENJQZ-cpc_FjT4GLHNz5W1Ug

Unbolt your's and once it's off pull it back and forth. If it makes any clicking/clunking or any movement then the ball joint is gone which is on the other end to the side you unbolt
