Tracking/car pulling etc

Car felt a bit weird before and steering wheel wasnt straight. Tyres had worn on the edges too.

Anyway, got new tyres and got the tracking done. Still doesnt feel right and steering wheel was off centre still.

Took it back and they promised that steering wheel was now centred. Drove it home and its still off and still feels weird. Its as if its drifting a little to the left and its easier to steer to the left than the right.

Any ideas? Could this still be tracking not done correctly? Or something else?

Sounds like something has had a clonk and bent. Only way to be sure is to have a proper 4wheel laser alignment check. Mine was quite expensive, but only because a lot of fiddling had to be done to bring it into spec. There are not that many places that do a proper job, and its worth a bit of research. I gather there are two systems, and one is much more comprehensive. Perhaps someone else on here could elaborate?? Made a huge difference to mine, anyway. I hate it when the steering wheel is off centre. Could be the same thing, just needs setting up properly.

These places tend to adjust just one trackrod instead of aligning everything up with the steering rack/wheel. Everytime ive had a tracking alignment, the damn thing has pulled to the left/right afterwards.....

Adjusting only one trackrod will not result in a vehicle pulling to left or right. It will only result in the steering wheel being off centre when the wheels are pointing forwards. If your car pulls to one side or another something else is wrong.

I can see your arguement, however on the occasions when this happened to me, the car had previously been driving in a perfectly straight line.

So when im asked if I want a "free check" now, I politely tell em where to shove it. :p

The problem is that the steering rack has a natural centre point, if you don't align both wheels to this point then it will cause the car to pull left/right.

If you can explain to me how a rack with adjustable track rods can do that, please go ahead.

    You answer your question......

The trackrods if not adjusted evenly can result in the wheels pointing the left or right when the steering rack is centred.
