If you are not under a contract why not change to a provider that gives you a wireless modem for free? I am with AOL and the one they give you runs 3 wirelessly and it says it will run 5 (we have not got 5).

What router is that? I've never heard of a wireless router that actually retricts the number of wireless connections. Our house has at least 7 devices that connect wirelessly to the router, not usually all the same time but I'd be miffed if I wasn't allowed to. I've only ever heard how restrictive AOL is in their software/hardware, doesn't really entice me to use them.

It's a Speedtouch and you might be right and me wrong. We only have 3 computers but they can all be on at the same time with no problem. I thought it said in the blurb that it would run 5 computers but I might be mistaken.

The only down side I can see with AOL is that the spam filters are so high! They probably do that to protect children because it is very family friendly but if you have all adults in the house (we do) it can be a pain. If you want to make sure you get emails you have to enter the details in you address book or look in the spam folder.
  • Update I just had a look and it is seven all at once. Six wirelessly and one with a cable - if you connect more the quality of the service cannot be gauranteed.
