 grrrrr!!! this month has well and truly gone down the pan! Was doing ok till we went to tesco for baby milk and a couple of essentials and ended up spending £55!!! So gone well and truly over budget this month. I need to give myself a huge kick up the bum. My problem is planning or rather my lack of it:o So i'm gonna write a list of everything we've got and write a list of meals i can make with whats in. Hopefully we wont need anything else other than milk and bread for at least a week.

    Hi all,

    Hope everyone is keeping well.

My total so far is £55.58 and I've had 6 NSDs since the 1st. I now have and empty purse and as it is chippy lunch at work tomorrow (need a small treat to keep going through the week.) So think I will have to take a £2 out of the savings jar - after all it is there for emergency back-up:D

OH's pay day on Friday but no spare cash for extras this month so will be sticking to the challenge.

I've put my name down for the last few GCs but disappointingly I have gone slightly over every time. :( ...

Don't be disheartened to be over your budget, it takes most of us a few months to get anywhere near!

if you think about how much you would have spent before joining the GC you will see what you've truly achieved :T - look for progress, not perfection

you also need to be sure that you're not being too optimistic in your figures; most people here can squeeze a penny till it squeaks but there is a limit to how low you can go :D

welcome to our newbies, MrsMc will add you to the list next time she's here; Good luck everyone!
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

    Evening All,

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY WSSLA!!! :bdaycake:

Well I got my sig updated this evening which is further than I've managed the last couple of days! :o

OH got us a stock of cod liver oil and glucosamine as well as over the counter pain killers yesterday and shopped around (well Coop Pharmacy, B**ts and S*perdr*ug) before buying. He worked out quantities, strength and total cost and then bought from S*perdr*g at a total of £24.74. That's not bad as it should keep us going a couple of months or so.

About a week and a half ago I was bemoaning the fact that I seemed to suddenly be getting old as I've developed really really painful arthritis in my hands and wrists. The seemingly sudden onset was worrying us both. It was only when talking that it dawned on me that a good few months ago (possibly six) I decided to stop taking the Cod Liver Oil and Glucosamine that I'd been taking for about four years! So I'm now back taking them and the cost while high will be worth it for having hands that work painlessly! ;)

I also placed an order yesterday with RSPB for my wild bird food (different budget) to try and keep the spends on the one day. So have amassed 8 NSD so far this month.

Oooh, XSpender the cheese & parsnip loaf is bl**dy gorgeous! :kisses3: I think OH made it a bit too wet and should have added a bit more flour but my it is delish. We had it hot spread with butter and I had a slice with my second beef dinner - gorgeous with gravy. It really is a bit like carrot cake in that the parsnip is not dominant in the way you would expect. We will be having that again ... and again ... and again ... :rotfl: Thank you so much for the recipe. :T

Right have had a bad couple of nights sleep wise (lack of it) so i'm gonna have a bite to eat and then early night.

Keep up the fantastic work everyone and welcome to the many newbies. :T

    Take care all,
    Spigs
