Why is it only the ports doing this, you dont have any problems usually with the airports, as long as you are within your personal quota.

its prob more easier to bring more stuff back over personal allowance via ports than it is by air due to weight restrictions on a plane

I completely agree though, treat them with respect and they will do the same back.

agreed most of them are very polite
but I did have one a female who must have been on her period,she went checking round the car tapping here and there,getting more and more frustrated,then she noticed the new tow ball and tapped that,well, she must have thought something fishy here and asked a male officer to get the toolbox out

sadly they didnt have spanners big enough:rotfl::rotfl:

she let me go saying that I was lucky:eek:

as I left I told them I was going back out the next day and would bring my spanners for them


sod me next day same woman and back in the shed:mad:

needless to say when I offered the spanners they declined:rotfl:

Going back 10 years ago, me and partner were stopped at manchester airport when we flew back in from gran canaria ( last flight of night, in snow, didnt think plane was going to stop !). Anyway we each had 10 cartoons of cigs each, only allowed 1 each, but thought we would chance it.

Everyones lugage came off conveyor belts, leaving 20 or so people ( inc us) waiting. All of a sudden 20 customs people came out he back and walked ahead of us all.

All of us were stopped. We had women customs, trhey were great under the citcumsyances. Said we were over limit, which one did we want to keep. She said you would be ok from mainland spain, we dont stop you on those, it's just because of the canaries being duty free.

If you play by the rules and keep civil, there is nothing to worry about, if you start arguing, then it gets messy. Have been a lot since but to mainland spain, never any problems

like i said ive not had an issue with them, the way i see it if your polite with them they are polite with you
